ball bearing 25# boost

Installed garrett ball bearing turbo the other day. Was hitting 25 #s of boost with the stock turbo, the new one is only hitting 25 #s as well. Does this seem right or should I adjust the wastegate rod.

Re: ball bearing 25# boost

If you want more boost= add fuel. Bigger fuel tunes on the chip, injectors or propane. Switching a turbo will not add boost. OR Do you believe you should be over 25 lbs. of boost with your current set-up, and think there is a problem?

Re: ball bearing 25# boost

I have a 120 hp setting with the dp chip, thought if i could squeeze 25 out of the stock one i should get atleast 30 from a ball bearing one. Maybe i need to get a chip reburn.

Re: ball bearing 25# boost

You should be over 30 lbs. with that chip. Check all the connections for any boost leaks, plug the red wastegate hose and let it rip, see what you get.

the 25 psi out of the BB is moving more air through your motor than the 25 out of the stocker. That being said...don't be surprised if you have a boost leak also.

Re: ball bearing 25# boost

Boost leak? Thats funny you mention it, about two blocks into the test drive I blew one of the boots off. Heart sank into my lap for a sec thought I windowed the motor. Checked all the clamps on the boots anyhow they are all tight. I ll put two clamps on at every connection tonight.

Re: ball bearing 25# boost

Man, everybody has missed the obvious question so far. Do you have a boost regulator or blow off valve in line to the MAP sensor? If you don't have a blow off valve or something then the engine will start defueling at 25psi and won't let you go past it.

Re: ball bearing 25# boost

Sorry I knew I forgot to add the blow off valve in the sig. I do have one. I just plugged the red tube going to the wastegate and hit 29#s boost. Is it okay to leave it this way? Also the ses light came on, I dont have a reader with me.

The reason his boost is the same is I think he still has the wastegate hooked up.
