CCV mod variation

OK ive asked in other ccv threads but never got an answer, drag racers use the exhaust system to pull a vacuume on the crank case, now why cant we do something similar on our trucks? I figure the hot exhaust gas's would burn all the oil vapor so the oil couldnt collect in the exhaust system? maintance free?

Re: CCV mod variation

I think I may have had answered you questions in a past post or maybe I thought I did

What you describe is what I use as a CCV mod. Link is in sig. It works for me but if you have specific questions let me know.

Re: CCV mod variation

Subman, Do you have a check valve on that exhaust connection? Looks like you would need one to keep exhaust pressure off the crank case under some conditions?

I thought about this too. I've had "block evacuation systems" on all my Vintage Pontiacs. On my truck, I didn't take it to the exhaust because of pressure. Majority of race cars aren't turbocharged, our engines have alot of air being pushed through by the turbo. When a race car does smoke, you don't see it being forced out like on our trucks. For me there is too much pressure to route the CCV there.

Re: CCV mod variation

actually i was thinking installing it on the down pipe and yes with a check valve. i guess i could drill a hole there and see if i get a vacuume or pressure??

Re: CCV mod variation

How are you going to check at WOT under load? That's what I was worried about!

Re: CCV mod variation

Checkvalve is not needed. I have had this Style CCV mod for quite a long time(04/27/03) and I do not have backpressure problems. This question comes up fairly often and someone commenting about too much pressure doing it my way of routing the CCV. The higher the rpm equals a higher velocity of exhaust passing by the venturi CCV exhaust port which pulls a higher vacuum to the crankcase. Maybe I just can't explain well enough, but I do not have a crankcase that gets pressurized by the exhaust.

i can check with a vacuume guage, any way i would install a check valve just in case there was a back fire or something

Re: CCV mod variation

Well I can't use your method. My MBRP exhaust is pretty much a straight shot. Where would you recommend installing the bung?

Didn't Suns have a problem with oil leaks after doing his? Did he get it straightened out?
