DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

I have been searching this site and the internet for pros and cons and comparisons of these 6 position chips side by side, and found very little. I have always been on the DP Tuner bandwagon and know a lot about Jody's chips and how good they are. However, after finding the DieselSite chip that is very similar to Jody's, only way cheaper...I wanted to find out more. Anyone have any ideas or comments on these and how they compare. Please try not to be biased, as I already know a TON about DP Tuner and their product. I just want the best bang for my buck, and with all the other things Im doing to my truck and other vehicles, money is starting to get tight. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me out with some answers.

Re: DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

It's my understanding that Jody was the first. The rest are taking the idea and putting their own versions out. I don't know this for a fact though, so I very well may be corrected. But, I'm happy with my DP chip and feel it was worth the money. Plus, that's what Jody specializes in.

Re: DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

Negative Rossi.

Along time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Steve Cole was prolly one of the first "custom" tuners. Not sure if it was him or Bill Cohron. Steve still runs his business TTS Performance, Bill did some tuning for Superchips and then went out on his own with Diesel Power chips.

Dennis Perry started TS performance back then sometime as well. Dennis is the manufacturer of the chips you see for sell, with the exception of Superchips who still makes their own.

Bill with Diesel Power went to work for Edge Products and dissolved the company and Jody started DP-Tuner and Bill and Jody reached an agreement to have Jody continue to provide service to his dealers (post edited I was wrong about Bill selling his business) and some of us have surmised that the DP stands for Diane's Programing

Bob sells the same 6 position chip that Dennis sells at ITP Diesel, that Jody sells, that Ts Performance sells and so on, only they have different programing on them.

I do believe that Dennis Perry does the programing for Bob at Dieselsite (not 100%) and these programs were built for Bob.

There is a handful of other custom tuners and a boatload of resellers of the different tuners. TS Performance has their dealer base, DP-Tuner has their dealer base and so on. Obviously the TS Performance dealers use Dennis Perry's programing and DP-Tuner's dealers use Jody's programing.

While Jody is definately one of the top programers in the country, he was not the first.

Re: DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

Not sure about Bob, but I know Jody writes his own programs and does a fine job making sure his customers are 100% satisfied. Friday I went for ride in a 2000 4X4 Dually Crewcab(six speed), with a Terminator, stock injectors, and basically a stock turbo(1.00 housing and wicked wheel). That sucker MOVES! Not bad for a heavy truck! And making 35lbs of boost too! I was impressed!

Re: DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

Do you have stock injectors? If so I don't see a reason for a 6 position chip. And what programs are put on by the dieselsite? If there are six programs like:
1) Stock
2) 50
3) 75
4) 100
5) Extreme
6) High Idle

I only see 4 programs as I don't consider stock or high idle a program.

Bob is great from all I hear and he sells great stuff but he doesn't specialize in tuning like Tony Wildman and Jody. The bonus about Tony is he will not charge you to reburn a program and he does the custom tuning.

The most bang for your buck is going to be a 4 position from Tony or Jody. Ya get whatcha pay for.

I have always been on the DP Tuner bandwagon and know a lot about Jody's chips and how good they are.

[/ QUOTE ] Why are you even considering if you are soo happy?

No reason with stock injectors???

So you're saying we all need to go change our injectors to see an increase in performance with a 6 pos chip?

I beg to differ. My truck runs great with a 6 positions chip, with stock injectors and stock HPOP. I know it would run better if I had injectors, but stock injectors shouldn't hold you back from getting a 6 pos chip.

Re: DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

I think what soaggy is saying of the 6 positions that are on your chip how many do you actually use regularly?

Re: DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

Gotcha. I definately missed the line about a 4 position being the best bang for the buck. My apologies.

I see where he's coming from now. I use all of mine, but probably only use about 4 of them most of the time.

Re: DieselSite vs. DP Tuner

From what I been hearing it is not your injectors limiting a chip's HP but your HPOP.

Most people only use 1-2 settings on chips, in this case more is not better.

I'm very careful, never into it for more than 10-15 seconds. I use high idle when it's cold, I love just having it on demand. I use 60 in town sometimes driving easy. 80 crusing, 100 racing it's just like a stronger 80, and 120 for all out racing. All though my truck makes more power in the 80 than floored in the higher settings because it defuels. I can feel it lose power just by switching to the 100-120 settings. I have a BRV in the mail tho, AND GAUGES, should fix it up nice.
