Do you have to cap off each end of the red line after you cut it?? I pulled the line off and my boost did nothing.
And what is the address to deiselsite?? I tried going there and it would not come up??
If you already have a banks Big Head you will have no benefit unplugging the red line. The Banks is designed to control the wastegate with the line connected. The problem with the stock actuator is the weak spring preventing blow off. Unplugging the line is just a cheap fix not a complete solution.
You can modulate this a bit with a plastic T setup which will bleed some but not all of the signal. Start with the T uncapped. If that doesn't lower it enough, try a cap with a small hole. Then increase the hole size.
Has anyone done this before or did I 'discover' it first?
Most put a small brass tube in there and drill a small hole in it, (New rubber hose about 1" long, brass tube, then the original hose.)
Called a "Boost tube" I ran one for a while, but really, HIGHER boost numbers do not mean higher HP, you can make more horse power with lower numbers if the volume of air is there...VOLUME is the key. More air More power. And contrary to popular belief, higher pressure does not always equal higher volume.

Got that right. I played with it without the red tube for a while but saw no benefit besides higher boost on my gauge so I put it back on.... saving up for a DP tuner now.
i just pulled mine off and put some duct tape on the end of the red line to keep junk from getting into it. gained about 4 psi.

This mod did nothing for me but raise my boost numbers about 4 lbs. I couldn't feel even a minor increase in power. I'll be reconnecting the red tube shortly.
I know there are several ways to fool the waste gate actuation, from electronic "Boost Foolers" to homemade ideas. For what it's worth, this has been my experience. With my current set-up, I am running 25-27 psi, under load, using a Bully Dog Programmer @ 120 hp setting, and 4" Exhaust. Next, if you are able to turn the "turnbuckle" (some will, some wont) on the waste gate rod, you can delay the activation (extending the rod delays the activation). Be careful exceeding 30 psi without addressing the down-boot issues as previously mentioned. Next would be similar to the "T" idea, only splicing a small brass tube, inserted inline with the waste gate line. Here you drill a 1/8th inch hole in the brass tube, which can get you up to 31 psi, depending on your vehicle & set-up. This will also allow the waste gate to function if you have to dump the throttle suddenly, yet nearly elimintaes that annoying pulse/squeel while towing heavy loads up-hill. We had good results on a 2002 7.3L Super Duty 4X4, with this method, and my 2003 7.3L Super Duty 4X4 will receive the same Rx soon. Operating without the waste gate hooked-up is a gamble. Good Luck!!!
