why would you disconnect for a zoodad? its not like there is a mass airflow sensor to get confused or anything from the extra air from the hole that you cut in the grill support
I think he was just using it as an example. And really I doubt "Resetting" the PCM would help mileage any either. If your mileage is suffering some now, join the crowd. It will always drop considerably, (10% or so I bet) during the winter. (Winter blend fuel is not as efficent as summer blend I guess)
IIRC our PCM won't clear codes just from removing power. You need a good scanner, or one of the tuners that will read, and clear codes.

codes are stored in the KAM i believe, if you remove power from them, you will lose that info, and reset all its parameters and will have to "relearn" those parameters..

Running two laps around the truck won't hurt it, either. It also will help the truck just as much as "resetting" the computer.
THE COMPUTER IN THE 7.3L DOES NOT LEARN. THE ENGINE PORTION DOES NOT LEARN AND THE TRANS PORTION DOES NOT LEARN.
"Resetting" the computer does give you a good chance to clean the battery cables and posts, so maybe it is a good thing.

Winter blend fuel does not have as many BTUs per gallon as summer blend, so to get the same amount of energy the engine has to burn more fuel. It's as simple as that.

I have always figured that the poor milage in the winter months, had more to do with a number of things, extended warm ups(idling) longer time to peak engine efficiency, EBPV ,& EOT ...
Less BTU makes sense due to longer cold EOT ....(shrug)....

???????????
What's that mean? Lower BTU content means the amount of energy available by burning the fuel is less than summer blend. Since you get less energy per gallon, you must burn more gallons to go the same distance.
How is cold EOT related?

If you add some cetane booster to the fuel it brings it back to Summer quality.. And you will get better milage cause the air is cooler and more dense in the winter..

While this makes it easier to start when cold soaked, it does NOTHING significant to increase the BTUs per gallon of winter blend fuel.
