With a stock HPOP you will likely not see much difference between 120 & 140.
I am going to be running the 120 program very little until I get a TC and Valve Body.

I'm not planning on replacing the oem hpop anytime soon so would i be better off just getting up to 120hp for now and having jody flash it later on? and even so, would i be asking for tranny trouble?

Personally, I think some of the HP ratings on these tuners and chips are very subjective. For whatever it's worth, Jody's "80hp" economy program blows away some of the other performance programs of supposedly higher hp. It put more hp to my rear wheels than my old 1705 SCMT on it's 110hp program.
Have you called Jody and talked to him? He's a great guy that will be willing to answer all of your questions. From what I gathered from talking to him, the "120hp" setting is about max for a relatively stock truck. If you go with the "140hp" program you will likely be staring at your SES light a lot (gotta love that P1211 code).
As for your trans, anytime you up the horsepower going through a stock 4r100, you are shortening its life. I think that most would agree that the first steps to adding lots of power to any truck would be gauges (maybe your Edge has you covered on this), then transmission, then a hotter program like Jody's 120hp.
If you want to keep your trans happy for a while, Jody's "80hp" might be your best bet. Or just get a multi position chip with the 120, and keep it in the 80hp for the majority of the time.

Great reply hotstik!!
My tranny went 6 months after putting intake/exhaust/chip in. The early torque converter lock plus the extra HP really takes a toll on a stock tranny. Start saving for a BTS or you'll have to carry it on the ol' credit card like me.

Sold the beast. No more $5.29 a gallon diesel for me.
If you havn't had a chip or programmer before I think you would be really impressed with the DP 80hp econo tune. I had a western diesel 80hp chip in a much lighter truck and this setup feels much stronger. If your just going with one tune send your ECM to him for a reflash, or see if he can do it on an exchange basis. Much cheaper this route and now worries about the cleaning contacts, etc...
I definitely would not use the 120 hp setting for a daily driver. It will put a lot of stress on the trans. I suggest getting a flip chip with the 120 and the 80hp setting, that way you can flip to the 120hp for fun but keep it in the 80 most of the time.

I'll ditto everything said about the 80 tune... It just has gobbs of power, actually more than I can use without getting bigger exhaust. It can spike the EGTs in no time. The 40-tow is also really good, and more usable as it doesn't generate as much heat.
I also have the 100 setting which is just a smoker (tailpipe-wise), but I don't hear to much talk about it. Not as popular?

Next on the List: a blown tranny!
Those temps sound similar to mine. I have heard some others with similar setups to ours report higher temps though. I wonder if the variablility is in the truck or the pyrometer??

I think it is in Elevation. I can hit 1200 in the 80 setting here at 5500 feet elev. rather easily.
