DP Tuner works intermittently

I have had a DP Tuner installed for a number of years. Recently every so often the chip doesnt work. What do I mean?

I typically keep the rotary switch on the 80hp tune. I rarely switch it from there. On occasion I will start the truck and it will be on the stock tune. If I stop, shut down truck and restart it will be on the 80hp tune. When the tune "doesnt take" I can switch the rotary while driving and it has no effect.

This has happened 3 different times in the last 2 weeks. Twice it happened when I remote started my truck (I have a remote start). And today it happened when I started it regularly. FWIW, I have started it hundreds of times with remote start and the tune was fine.

Has anyone had a similar problem? The rotary switch seems to work fine, so long as the tune takes on startup. Its not that big of a problem, but if it keeps up it will be annoying. Any ideas, I havent had a chance to call Jody yet.

Maybe check the connections at both ends of the harness and also where the chip itself plugs into the PCM. Maybe something just came loose on you. MAKE SURE THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANY WIRES. If your key is in and the ignition is on AND the chip gets disconnected. It will burn up your chip and PCM. Hope this helps. If not, as you know, Jody is great and will be glad to steer you in the right direction.

I dont think there is anything loose. The reason being is that if I shut off the truck and restart, all is fine. I am skeptical that shutting down the truck and immediately restarting would solve the problem each time if there was a bad connection.

Try re-seating the chip. I too had that problem. I called Jody and he sent me out a new cable. Solved my problem.

Let me first say that you are talking about 2 different chips.

Jgarden has the old chip we use to sell.

please give us a call next week and we'll discuss your warranty option. We are no longer able to offer a warranty for the old chip we sold you. We we'll need to upgrade you to the F5 or F6 chip we have now.

Yeah, when boertje said maybe replace the cable, I wondered how that was possible since I remembered the cable being integrated.

I tried calling on Friday, and realized that is the shop day. I will call next week.
