eighteen k power mod

the eight teen k power module claimes to give 65hp and 100lb tq.. im in the market now for putting a tuner on my truck i want to order one so i can put it on when i come home from deployment in december... i got a f350 on 38.5's that makes trips from va to florida as often as possible and also puls a 36ft car hauler, and i love to full around and hot rod in my truck as much as the next guy.. my problem is i want pulling power, race power, and better fuel milage when i keep my foot out of it, i been looking at edge evolution, stacked with the eighteen k power module and also the dp chip , but is the dp chip a little much for wha ti want? what would be the best bet for me?

With what you are asking for I think the DP Tuner or a BTS chip is what you need. Chips from the known guys like DP, BTS, Tony Wildman all have been tested on many different rigs with favorable results. If you are worried about the price being too much that is a whole different issue. Putting a resistor in your truck only does one thing, it tricks the PCM into giving more oil to you for the given throttle position. A chip with good tunes balances all of the "needed" requirements and adjusts all the different parameters to work together. On thing you should think about is how the transmission (automatic) shifts. If you add a bunch of power and then don't adjust the line pressure or shift points the truck will smoke the trans in a very short time, especially doing what you say you are doing with the set-up you have. Do it right the first time and get gauges with a the chip, then you will have a reliable set-up. I'm not a big fan of the Edge products, but they are a lower cost alternative that comes with gauge components, I just like having real gauges that in the event of a failure will not kill the whole system. The edge unit is like a combo TV/DVD if one goes bad you junk the whole thing. If you have something go bad with the Edge everything is bad......
