exhaust brake + PMR's = bad????

I have an 02 F-250 (see sig) I really want to put an exhaust brake on it however I'm scared that I'm going to brake a rod, I got the impression from being on here awhile it dosent take much past stock to stress these out? Can anyone on here tell me if there running a simular setup to me with and good or bad results? thanks.

Bryan

Me Blizzard is the same truck you have. I DIYd my EBPV brake, and have had no issues. What you are thinking of is this. PMR rods dont like any HP over about 350. Most name 400HP as the limit, but personally I would not push them even that far. The EBPV brake does not put any detrimental stress on PMRs as far as I know, its a good mod for the price, and helps greatly when traveling down long highway grades with a loaded trailer.

No problem using PMR's and a exhaust brake.

Only problem I have heard of (International) is possibly floating an exhaust valve when using exhaust brake on these motors. High rpm + high Load + Exhaust Brake = Motor Brokey.
PMR or Forged Rods make no difference if your valve hits a piston

How are you doing the DIY EBPV exhaust brake?

There is no worry with an exhaust brake, none what so ever. Its a great mod I ran until going to a H2e turbo.

The exhaust back pressure valve acts like an exhaust brake if you wire it to a switch where you can turn it on and off. Works great, and costs pretty much nothing. If you have an automatic you have to wire up the torque converter to lock also.
