extreme newbie

i am very new to upgrading diesel engines and i have a question. i wanted to get some more hp so i purchased a diablo predator ( i have one for my mustang gt also) so that is why i decided to go with the predator. anyway, i installed the 85hp and after the install when the truck revs it makes a wierd rattling sound that sound like what would be equivilant to detonation in a gas engine. i unistalled the 85 and put the 60 and i dont get the rattling anymore. is there any thing else i need to do before i run the 85 tune? the truck is pretty much stock except a catalytic delete. also i checked the fault codes and a code for low boost pressure came up. could anyone help me with this please. thanks in advance

Re: extreme newbie

Welcome to the WORLD OF THE DIESEL STOP...
You will find everything you need on here,,,,and lots of ways to spend your money!!!!!
Probably a change in the timing. My truck sounds different in each setting of my chip. I have never had a Predator so dont know how they work exactly.
Contact one of our sponsors on here that sells them. I am sure they will answer any questions you have. You have a cat delete..but do you have the stock muffler still? Also are you running gauges? IF You answered yes to the first and no to the second,, BE VERY CAREFULL,,, you will have higher EGTs with stock muffler and can hurt the turbo.

Re: extreme newbie

You need to get an EGT gauge. You can do damage to the motor and it will be too late before you know it.

Re: extreme newbie

egt stands for exhaust gas tempeture

high egt's will result in turbo and enigine damage.

intakes and larger ehaust will supply aditional air flow and help reduce egt temps.

Re: extreme newbie

Check www.blackclouddiesel.com Garrett now was walker BTM mufflers that are cheap replacement for an exhuast. I plan on gettin on for my old mans truck soon too. I think you get about 80% of the performance and flow of a full exhuast system. Lata
