I've got the straight pipe already. Looks like I'm going to buy a different intake system. What does everybody recommend? I'm not looking for HUGE horespower or boost gains mind you. This is my everyday driver, just lookin for the whistle!

From my understanding coming from a sport compact point of view that can be sorta of applied to a SD is that you need a bigger diameter, high flowing exhaust, downpipe, and intake. My two cents.

Easy as Pie

Had a loose pipe clamp, the muffler slid back off the exhaust pipe about 3/4".

Made a good whistle, sounded like my neighbor's 3406 Cat in his Pete.

My 7.3 has a huge Donaldson air filter and a 4 inch intake to the turbine inlet, so I suppose this helped the sound.

Hated to put the pipe back together, ruined the nice sound!

This F450 will be replaced with a heavier truck, maybe a Freightliner or a Peterbilt around 25,000 GVW. AND with a big manual transmission.

Ok, ressurecting my original thread. Once again, I've got NO MUFFLER. I had it replaced with a 3 inch straight pipe. I might also add that my truck is set on 60 hp via a predator programmer. The other day I had to get a new air fliter so I ran to the parts store with no air filter at all and this didn't make the turbo any louder. I'd just like to hear nothing but turbo, I personally like the sound. I could care less about hp increase. So I'd like to buy a cold air intake if that's what I need. Any ideas on what I should buy? Also, what is this "foil delete" I'm reading about?
Thanks guys.

One thing you can do is check to make sure that your turbo wastegate actuator is allowing the wastegate to close all the way. When I removed my stock actuator to install a turbomaster it was evident that the wastegate was not able to fully close. The position of the stock actuator arm held it ajar even with the engine not running. This probably could have been rectified with an adjustment to the arm length. Turbo whistle was significantly increased after the turbomaster install which holds the wastegate fully closed.

Mount the turbo in the glove box, that will be the best option. HA HA

Then you'll have to survive without the whistle.

The foil delete is removing the foil from your hot side CAC tube.

Want to know more about this myself, like what it helps/how it helps.

Is straightpiping the best option for HP and mileage gains, or is there an aftermarket exhaust that would actually be better. Is the best thing to do to the exhaust just a better downpipe and straightpipe?
