There is a big difference between canned tunes and custom performance tunes. You'll be much happier in the long run with custom tunes from DP-Tuner or PHP or similar. Diesel tuning products for Ford PowerStroke

superchips flashpax

when i bought my truck it had the afore mentioned tuner in it . i can definately tell the difference when its in perf . tune vs. stock . my kid down loaded their mileage xs tune off the site , and i haven't really noticed an inprovement in mileage yet , but it makes the engine and valve train cackle and slappy sounding , and the thing has no nuts what so ever in that tune . i like the other towing , tow perf . , and perf. tunes , but im thinking of getting a better set up also . i just dont know how to go about it . do i put it back to the stock prog. then get a chip ? do they have someone install the new stuff , or is it diy ? or what . and what system could i get thats gona be better than what we already have ? theres not gona be alot of mods on truck . its mostly for towing and work . allthough i do like to tromp it occassionally . any advise on new tuner ?

Goatkicker - the DP tuner is great. Its an easy DIY project. If your kid is computer savvy, you can let him do the chip interface while you run the wires. Get an econo tune, a tow tune, and whatever else you want for tromping on it occasionally. Put your hypermax on eBay.

X2..get a chip. A TS chip will allow any tuner to burn their tunes..so don't lock yourself into a propriety chip platform that limits your options.

If he goes with a hypertech he is locked to a proprietary product. We don't allow other tuners to put their programs our F5 and F6 chips we have had specifically made for us for trouble shooting purposes. It's was a nightmare trying to figure out what issues they were having only to find out they were using another tuners tuning. This is why no other tuners tunes are allowed on the F5 and F6 chip and only allowed on the F8.

This is why no one can tune the Edge, Banks, Diablo, Bullydog, Hypertech and there are many more.
