Injector upgrade... what else?

I'm getting ready to swap out my stock injectors with a set of stage 1' single shots from Full Force. At the same time I'll be dropping my tank to hutch mod it... which has me considering other upgrades as well.

Thinking about a regulated return fuel bowl delete...

If you could only do one thing to compliment those new stage 1 single shots what would it be?

I'd upgrade your DP Tunes to drive single shots.

Hoping you were going to do that anyway - otherwise it will run like bovine poop.

I don't think deleting the bowl helps as you can achieve a regulated return with a modified FPR like this - Fuel Rail Crossover System Regulated Return

Other than that, it looks like you've got a nice setup. Let us know how the single shots affect your power / MPG.

Jody already has my chip to update the tuning as soon as the flow data is available for the stage 1's... good point, I should have mentioned that.

yea, stock turbo... for now. that'll be my next project, probably a WW, bellowed up pipes, and new intercooler boots.

After studying several of the regulated return systems, I just ordered the Riffraff FRx kit and a rebuild kit for the stock FPR. Didn't see no need in paying the extra $$ for an after market regulator if there ain't nothing wrong with the stock one. Thanks for that eye opener, RT.

If you are giong to want to run Hi Power tunes with these new injectors, you probably wont see thier full potential without an upgraded HIPOP.

I my memory is working correctly, you will not gain anything from a T500 or other pumps unless you are currently having issues. My 250/100's will run just fine off a stock pump. These single shots are less demanding that the stock splits.
I am running a stealth srp 1.1 and if there was any improvement, I did not notice anything. Way too many people claim you will see a huge improvement...thats a crock of crap.
I have done some of my own minor non-scientific testing on various items people claim to make a difference....you will be wasting money on many of them.

get your injectors, plug the chip back in When you get it back from Jody and enjoy your truck. Do not go making a bunch of changes all at the same time. Baby steps is the way to go so you can see how ea upgrade/mod truly reacts.

I did swap my pump out at the same time my injectors were being rebuilt into stage 1s. I have also heard that going form split shots to the single shots will reduce the requirements of Hi pressure oil, but I was advised by multiple people that If I wanted to run the 120 or 140 tunes, I would want to upgrade the pump. Mine already had 240k on it, so I didnt put much thought into it.

Machiner1 I have question. My 02 only has 121,000 miles on it and it runs perfect. I am ready to do a bunch of up grades at the same time. Would I be better off having my injectors rebuilt into stage 1s or just buy them and turn mine in for cores. It just seems a waste to send in perfectly good injectors for cores. Was it cheaper to have yours rebuilt?

Much cheaper to have them rebuilt. I purchased my Stage 1 rebuilds thru DP-tuner because they don't charge for the new tunes if you buy thru them, but I still shipped my injectors directly to Full Force Diesel. You can deal with Full Force directly, and I think you get a free t-shirt, but I don't think it was any less expensive. The cool thing about sending you injectors in beforehand is that Full Force will rebuild YOUR injectors and turn them into Stage 1s. You get YOUR injectors back and the turnaround was about a week for me. Full Force rebuilds these injectors every day, and they did an awesome job. Service was great and my injectors came back to me packaged up like they were brand new.
A few important things to remember:
1) Your upgraded injectors will require different programming to run properly. If you don't have a tuner, you will need one. Make sure that you tuner company understands what you are planning to upgrade on you truck, and find out if they are capable of supplying tunes to meet you needs.
2) Not all rebuilt injectors are the same. Pensacola Diesel sells Rebuilt injectors dirt cheap. STAY AWAY!! They don't replace half the stuff that a company like Full Force does.
3) Don't just order everything online because the website looks good and is easy to use. Call the company and feel out their service department and expertise before you spend you money with them.

Machiner1 why did you take out your EBPV. I am thinking about going to the 38R ball bearing turbo and I just wonder if it is worth it to eliminate the EBPV valve and pedistal. Is it worth it in performance gains to loose the temp gain up here in the northern midwest. When we get below 0 up here it takes along time to build water temp without the EBPV. Some of the guys up here said don't do it.
