I recommend John Woods. Every person on this board who has a tranny built by him seem to like them. I also have the 5R110 converter and no problems yet.

Just had mine done a couple weeks ago with the Billet 5R100 TC. John's a trustworthy guy and builds great trannys. I watched him completely rebuild mine, all the while showing me the mods he does to ensure it stays together. Same day, he installed a BB turbo, replaced my serpentine belt pulley, diagnosed a code my PCM was throwing and ran a live diagnostic on my PCM to find that my Bully Dog chip was increasing line pressure, which Bully Dog themselves told me it wasn't. Well, it was. Now that the Bully Dog's been reprogrammed by Jody Tipton/DP Tuner to exclude line pressure and use Tipton's programming for each of the four positions, the tranny is outstanding, and the power's much stronger and much more linear.

He doesn't stop at transmissions. John can do whatever you want with your truck, and his prices are fair.

Don't even hesitate to see John...

Re: John Wood Trans

Talked with John today and he felt with my chip that the stock covered 5R100 would be fine. I know the difference a TC can make...I have been running a Suncoast for 2 years. What are your driving impressions with the 5R100?

Re: John Wood Trans

We have a couple of John's trans and I have played pretty hard with them and all I can say is WOW. I like it better than the other trans I had. They both have 6.0 TC's one stock and the other is a billet one.

John uses the 5R100 in 2 forms. One is a stock 5R100 and the other uses a billet cover. Just to remove any confusion with my previous post.

It works great! Has a slightly lower than stock stall speed. Thicker front plate. Furnace brazed turbine. Very Strong Torrington Bearing. Triple disc clutch. Needs a transmission spacer and pilot adapter/bushing to be used in a 4R100 which both items cost around $50 total from JWTT.com You can also buy this TC for around $135 if you have the connections.

Re: John Wood Trans

OK....And how many miles do some of you have on these newer converters?

I have a friend that works @ a ford dealer and all I am hearing is that the new TOURQUE SHIFT trans are junk and that is what these new converters are running with. So...I was wondering how everyone is doing with them?
