MBRP Exhaust Rubbing Tranny Mount

I have the 4" Turboback and I can not get it to stop rubbing on the front tranny support bolt. The bolt has cut into the pipe and i HATE the clunking sound it makes when taking off from a stop. Any ideas?

I never had that problem with mine but since I put my TN turbo on and had moved the downpipe for the turbo in stall I now have the same clunking as you describe. My temporary fix for a year and a half has been a piece of an intercooler boot shoved in between the pipe and the bolt and no more clunk. As far as heat from the pipe and the boot I have seen no problem. Some people have beaten a notch in the pipe for clearance but I don't think I want to beat the heck out of my expensive exhaust. Maybe just loosen the whole pipe up and tweak the pipe a bit for more clearance.
Good luck and tell us if you find another way to fix the problem.

I had the same problem with my '00. I took a 4" muffler clamp, welded a 1" wide strap to it and spaced the pipe where i wanted it and bolted it to the frame rail. I have not had an issue since.

I am having the same with my MBRP exhaust rubbing! I loosened all the connections and tried to adjust it so it wouldn't rub. Stopped for a week and it started back up, gotta say I know many people are impressed by this brand but I am not impressed with how its rubbing and yes I know how install an exhaust, its not install error. I may have to weld up an additional bracket or something to hold it in place more.

Not to say that any of you are wrong but I have fixed three of these so far and its not that big of deal. Just loosen the clamp on the turbo, and the first one or two clamps back... adjust it then tighten from the turbo back. I will make life 100X easier with two people! My girlfriend helped me when I fixed mine so just grab anyone, and have them turn a wrench when you say now. You get the fun job of laying on the ground pushin the exhaust with your foot while they tighten the down pipe.

Play around with it guys you'll get em!!

I have the Magnaflow, and it does the same thing. It's adjusted to not do it now, but it rattled a bit for a day or so until we found it. Like the others said, 2-3 clamps starting at turbo and just move it until it's where you want.

I don't think it's a design flaw, there's just simply no friggin room down there. Try to turn a wrench without bashin your hand. And remember that in most caes, the exhaust is now bigger than OEM, not much, but bigger .
