Modifing Early 99 to Late. Downpipe Question.

I'm in the process of gathering parts to upgrade my early '99 turbo to the later design. Does anyone know if I can reuse the early '99 down pipe? A quick check at the PowerstrokeShop.com only shows one flavor of the down pipe, and that got me thinking that maybe I could reuse the one I've already got.
Thanks

We did my brothers truck and reused the down pipe with no problems.

He does have a 4" aftermarket but I don't think the DP has to move at all for the upgrade.

I've got a 99.5 engine sitting here if you need any parts, also have the dp too. Its been cut to get it loose from the rest of the exhaust but its defiantly usable.

The Dp needs to be disconnected to replace the turbo, but it should be the same.

I compared the early and late side by side. The late is positioned nearly 2 inches higher. The early pipe should still connect. the trans. dipstick is also higher on the late to clear the higher downpipe, It will likely need to be tweeked as well. Just my opinion, but I do not think stock for stock the late turbo can be considered an upgrade. I've driven both and the early feels more powerful and responsive in stock form.

as far as after maket exhuasts go..there is no diff in the 99's that i have ever seen..
unless you go to an h2e turbo but that comes with its own dp.. total different for any truck.

oil pressure problems

I am looking at buying a f 250 7.3 diesel 1999 Ford. I am new to trucks.
I am told that the oil pressure drops to nothing when the rpms fall below 2000 is this a huge problem? and how can it be fixed... when the rpms stay above 2000 everything is normal. What does this mean. And what do I need to fix it? a new oil pump? sensor? any advice would help. and is it difficult to change an oil pump? in this model?

Your better off beginning a new thread, but if this truck has that symptom, it could just be the LPOP, (Low pressure oil pump) Not hard to replace really from what I hear. (Never had to do one yet, thank you) It could also be a bearing wear issue though I imagine.

means have it checked out by a mechanic ...as in inspected ie I am looking to buy this truck not replaced...
sure it may cost a bit ..not much , and if the owner doesn't want you to..he is hiding something.
you need to make sure the engine isn't dusted or anything radical..
bad ball joints , even hubs are common bad trannies , blown head gaskets, turbos, trannies etc are uncommon and a problem.

lpops are not bad..dont go bad often either.
but you do have to pull the damper to get to them I believe .
or should I say those who put on fluid dampers often change to the melling lpop just for heck of it.
the melling isn't leeps and bounds better but has a better design.

the downpipe is the same. The turbo sits about 2" higher, thus the downpipe sits 2" higher, but it is identical (just positioned differently)
