DP Tuner is a good choice. I run one with 6 positions.

i've looked into that website before. How exactly do you go about picking the settings? how much did yours cost? is it worth the price?

First you choose which tuner you want, either the f5 @ $199 or the f6 @ $299. The difference is the f6 you can download new tunes and install them yourself. The f5 requires you to send the chip to them to have more added. As far as which tune to get, that is a personel preference to what you use the truck for. I got this as my setup. No-start, Stock, Decel, 60 HP Tow-codes, and 80 HP Econo-codes. Most everyone gets the 80 hp econo as there daily driver tune. Lots get the 120 race or 140 extreme but I think the 80 hp econo provides. Plenty of safe power that will keep you from breaking a stock powertrain. I tow about 9k so the 60hp code should be all I need but I think I might also get a 40 hp tow code for pulling in the mountains to keep temps down. The codes run about $45-50 for the average ones. If you send Jody your current mods he can put the tunes that have been on other trucks with similar mods. You can also do one of his live tune sessions if he comes to your area and you will get custom tunes for your truck as he drives around with you tweaking it to match your exact mods.

well the 60 tow and the 80 econo sounds good but i love smokin people around town. I have a K&N cold air intake and an aeroturbine exhaust, do you think the 140 hp tune is safe to run?

I don't think Jody would sell it to you if it is not safe. But you will find that the stock HPOP and injectors will be taken to the limit with it. I know lots of guys runn it and love the power it gives. I've been in trucks with it and have seen other diesels try to keep up, but they just can't seem to do it. I think if you use the 140 to play occasionally you will be fine, just remember the trans is the weak link iin our rigs, You may be looking at getting a BTS in the future. Welcome to PMS!!!!!!!!!

With BTS or John Wood you just tell them what you do and they will build it so fit what you need. Both are pretty close to the same price and offer a great transmission. Which one you use is up to you. Most use BTS as he is in Arkansas and JW is in California. Both will have a wait list so if it is something you want to do I would suggest you get the ball rolling now to get the proverbial "golden ticket". I know here in Washington state there is a shop that installs BTS transmissions so where you live might have a similar deal. Either way give them a call and tell them your intentions and they will hook you up with a trans that more than likely last your lifetime. Plan on spending around 5k on the deal by the time you get the trans, a new cooler and synthetic fluids.

How would a Dp Tuner affect a ZF 6 speed? Is the clutch the only thing i need to upgrade or do i need to work on the internals too?

The ZF6 is a HOSS tranny. It'll handle just about whatever you throw at it. The pilot bearing needs attention, because if it goes out, it will take the tranny with it, starting at the input shaft bearing.

Clutch is another story though. The stock clutch will go out quicker if you start drag racing, etc. If you're careful to get it fully engaged before romping on the go-pedal, it'll last a bit longer.

There are good aftermarket clutches available. SouthBend sells some good ones, but be aware that there's no such thing as an all-around clutch. Some are good for pulling heavy loads and others are good for daily driving. Call them up and ask what they'd recommend based on your driving style.

Well I use a Dp tuner i have 80 econ, 120 race and 140 agg race. I love it my dad had a superchip and he would struggle to hang with me on my econ tune when he was on extreme. He ordered one the next week. And not to mention the 80 econ is awesome. You would have a hard time getting me to try another chip. And For your tranny... it will last as long as you drive smart. The harder you are on it the faster it will go. I drive mine like I stole it but its a weekend warrior slash rice eater.

Des your transmission change normal and the tq converter locks up much later while on stock mode, w/o a tuner? it the answer is no, then is not the tuner, like I told you on the other thread you started, I used 3 diff tuners and they all make it shift the same...

BTW, you guys w/ DP tuner, does your 4R100 shift like ours?? goes to O/D soon and tq converter locks soon while you are trying to "go" only to find out that the tranny does not agree with your style of driving...........hate it w/ a passion.
