Need new headlights in an 02

My headlights got screwed up in a sand storm and now need to be replaced.
I have heard you can use the newer style headlights(sorry I don't remember from what year) Are these a direct replacement for the the 02 style or are modifications required? how hard is this to do? and approx how exspensive?
Sorry for all thje questions, but if I don't ask I won't learn.
Thx for any help

Your 02 are the clear crystals. So I assume you mean the 05 and up with the turn signal/headlight combined. It is not a direct swap. Many have done it. It involves cutting the header panel out or replacing it with the 05 and up one. Also changing the headlight harness plugs. Both of which are not difficult I am sure. (the header is only something like 100.00 I think. And plugs are available in a kit from Gosracing, click here -->Splash (SPLASH? But the link works....)along with the heavier wire harness for higher wattage bulbs if you wish.

Unless they changed in 02 from 01, my 01 doesn't have crystal clear headlights.

Check ebay and then check vendors for them. Lots of options. I thought they changed to clear in 03 or 04? But those are direct swap before 05 as mentioned.

Clear in 03-04..get ebay or Ford ones ..don't get later ones they have cheap bulb connectors that limit higher wattage bulbs to be used. Get a set of Hella 80-100w 4k Kelvin bulbs and their harness, fantastic light!

Cary, do you have a source for these? I have bought cheap stuff from ebay (you get what you pay for), and wouldn't want to cheap out on headlights. The bulbs sound interesting - need a relay and larger guage wire?

Send a message via AIM to countryboy 444
I bought a decent set off of ebay for less than $200. They are bright and I love the way they look with my smoked cab lights.

I believe 02 and up for the crystals, 99,00 and 01 were the "Fluted" lenses...

You can do the 05-07 headlights, a little trimming is all that is needed. Dfuser.com is where I got my kit from. It comes with the pigtail to change bulbs, headlamps and the necessary hardware for mounting.

Jim is correct, they changed the headlights to the clear crystal in 02, and you are correct about the 05 and up style, I am going to check out the website that tx silverstroke mentioned to see what the got.
Thx for the info guys.

The 05-07s are nice. I have heard some say the lighting is not quite as good as the clear crystals. (However I want them for looks!) I have seen how much they have to cut out to put them in, also then not all points of support are there for them. For the 100.00 or so it costs to get the new header panel. It may be worth it for piece of mind? (Granted I have never seen one installed with the header cut out, to see if there is any vibration ect.... from the lights) It may be just fine......

Looks aside the 05 and up housings are not what anyone that wants "light' should install. The housing uses The H13 and is quite possibly the stupidest design for a bulb ever foisted on the public. The terminals are so small that they overheat, even at stock wattages, and melt the plastic housing of the connectors. Higher than stock wattage bulbs are offered, but not recommended.
