I just went out and checked my CCV MOD and no oil yet!!! I figured it would take 1000 miles or so before the pads get enough oil on them. I only have about 250 since installing it.Kind of like the wick in an oil lamp. For those of you that don't know I installed my homemade CCV MOD last week and some of you asked if I had gotten any oil out of it yet. If you want to check it out check out my truck pics and check it out.

Mike,
If you look at the pics of the CCV mod you should be able to tell that I rotated the vent 180 degrees so it exits the back. I am not sure of your second part, if you are asking what does it do, then the answer is easy. It coolects oily vapors from the crankcase that would normally go straught into the intake and then soak my boots. Inside the canister there are 5 3" brillo pads. The oil vapors will cling to these and form oil droplets then when I open the petcock at the bottom every month or so the oil that has been collected will drain out. Unlike other CCV mods the upper hose returns to the intake just like the factory set up, but in this case it is now clean air and not oily mist!! I hope this answers your question.

As far as where to get them , it is not something you can buy at a store. Amember GaryT came up with the idea and I did my own version. I am making a couple for folks on here that don't have time to do it themselves, but it is very simple . Here is a parts list.
1- 5 1/2 piece of 3" PVC pipe
2- end caps for the pipe
2-barbed to pipe thread fittings, make sure the barb is the right size for the hose you are using!!
1-petcock valve, found in the air compressor section of Lowes or Home Depot
3- 3" Nylon scrub pads, like you use for washing dishes.
2- copper 3" brillo pads, these go on the bottom.
1-3 1/2 muffler clamp
1- custom made bracket- I can have these done for you if needed.
1- tube of silicone to seal all fittings,
8- hose clamps
15ft of hose
2-90 degree elbows, barbed
Any questions just PM me.

Kevin, when your pads get soaked with oil build-up, what then? Replace the cannister? Maybe a test port in the return line to check for air flow would be viable.

The word soaked probably wasn't the right one for me to use. What I mean is there needs to be enough oil condensing on the pads for oil droplets to form. Because the pads are so open and coarse they should not become actually "SOAKED" , When my return line connects to the elbow on the intake there is a hose clamp that is easy to get to. I have pulled this hose off a couple times and you can feel the air coming back to the intake. I was really surprised how much air flow there was. With an inside diameter of 5/8" I don't see it getting clogged, what is more like to happen is a hose getting kinked or pinched off. This is just one of the things I do when I wash my truck weekly. I also undo the petcock and can feel the air coming out.
