I'm new to the forum, but have been reading for a while. I am trying to install a Superchip 1705 on my 02 7.3. When I installed it, the display said it needed an update. I tried it on a 99 7.3 and it said the same thing. I bought this thing used off one of these sites so I don't have a receipt to send it in to Superchip for the update. Without the receipt they charge $200.00 for the update. Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions? Thanks.....

If the previous owner didn't return it to stock, it would say it was vin-locked as soon as he plugged it in.

I have a SCMT that I've been using since 2001 when my truck was new. It was pretty good. Recently my PCM failed ( I don't know if it was caused by the SCMT or not) so I got a replacement PCM from DP-Tuner.com with an 80hp econo tune flashed on it. Jody at DP-T told me the Superchip 80hp program was about equal to his 40 hp tow program. I thought...yea right. The first time I drove it was quite a suprise. Dang, he knows what's up! My truck starts, runs and shifts better than it EVER has before.
I suggest you call Jody Tipton at DP-Tuner and spend less of your money for more performance.
Chris

Problem solved, I contacted the seller and he had the receipt. He faxed it to me, and I mailed everything to Superchips with a check for $12.50 for return postage. It was less than a 2 week turn around! I have the programmer installed in my '02, I have it on the tow-safe mode and like it so far.......

I have been running the SCMT 110hp program in my truck for the last 130k miles. No problems. I am at 160k miles and wondering if I should replace the tranny before hunting season when I start pulling the travel trailer again to the hill country. Diesel Innovations is just 30 minutes away from me and I have had the itch, its justs hard to drop that much do-rey-me on something with the stock tranny holding up so well.

Before I would spend $4000 on a new tranny system, if it is running good, I would add an additional tranny cooler, a Transgo Tugger shift kit, and Maghytech tranny pan. I would also change the fluid to all synthetic, like Amsoil Racing fluid or Mobil 1. Just make sure it is rated correctly.

I ran Mobil 1 Synthetic in the tranny its whole life up until last week. When I changed it I went to Valvoline due to time restraints and not having synthetic at hand. Will probably go to Amsoil shortly.
