Cant find it in search, sorry. Just read article about removing the air intake heater to reduce restriction in inlet. They also sell a heater plug with a seat for boost guage fitting. Is that the place one would normally drill for a boost gauge, and do we really need that heater?

Re: Removing Air Intake Heater Plug--smart or dumb?
i removed mine and have no problems. i live in alaska so it can get quite cold sometimes. i cant say if it made a big difference because i did two or three mods all at the same time. remove the EBV AIH and the Garrett BB.

Re: Removing Air Intake Heater Plug--smart or dumb?
don't really need the heater, I have not had any problems nor has anyone else I ever heard of. Blackclouddiesel.com sells the plug with boost fitting that works great.

Re: Removing Air Intake Heater Plug--smart or dumb?
I had my doubt's about this mod but I would swear my truck starts much easier now. Starts right up almost instantly when I turn the key now. Not sure if it's the warmer weather or maybe they stopped using the winter fuel.
Re: Removing Air Intake Heater Plug--smart or dumb?
i just did mine today. all i did was take out the heater. put it in the vice and cut off the coil. filed it down a bit to make it smooth and then plugged it back in and removed the wires. easy and freeeeeeee.

Re: Removing Air Intake Heater Plug--smart or dumb?
I have a early 99 PSD that didn't come with the AIH and I don't miss it.
The truck starts up all winter just fine and it can get pretty cold here in Michigan in the winter
