Upgrades and Aftermarket - 99 & up 7.3L EngineUpgrading or adding OEM or aftermarket equipment to your 1999-Up Super Duty or Excursion with 7.3L Power Stroke diesel engine. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 7.3L Power Stroke engine.
The truck will run smoother, maby have a little more power, but not noticablely more. The smoke will be the same if not less with the regulated return system because there will be less air bubbles in the fuel rail.
so is it REALLY worth it or should i drop the 450 elseware? is it a good mod for other mods to follow it? eventually i want to go with big injectors and turbo and the works really lol....

i read that it can be turned up 2 60-70lbs?? will that give me more fuel? and maybe more smoke? we all LOVE smoke

Unlike gas engine injectors, turning up the fuel pressure on the PSD won't increase the fuel output EXCEPT "possibly" in the case of injectors that were not properly filling for whatever reason. If the pressure with the factory setup is too low, turning up the pressure (not considering the other fuel routing changes with the regulated return system) can be beneficial to a small degree by helping to make sure that the injectors fill properly...but the amount of fuel injected is still determined by the PCM through pulse width and injection pressure.
Now, giving consideration to the added fuel routing changes that the regulated return system provides, as well as the better flowing feed lines, there are improvements to be had in how the truck runs. Most customers that install a regulated return fuel system experience quieter and smoother operation, many see improvements in fuel economy as well as improvements in power and throttle response. This is not just the change in fuel pressure doing this though, but the elimination of the deadhead fuel system and the improvements in "flow" as well.
Hope that helps...

If what you have in your sig is your mods then I would maybe go for a chip with my 450.If you are happy with the 10k/18k mod then go for the fuel system. If you are currently haveing any idle knock problems. If you are going to go with injectors turbo and the works then yes the reg fuel system will compliment the injectors.Especially if you put a big fuel pump behind it.
You will notice a throttle response difference. Not big but some.If you have idle knock now or cackle your truck will run quieter and smoother.
dumped the 10k mod for a superchips i got off my buddy for 200 and i know i dont have guages i dont tow and i dont get into it to bad for very long... and menace whats this vacation stuff lol... i called yesterday to order that kit and u werent there... ill call on monday and order it will it make it to ct(06033) by fri? i wanna do it saturday i need to order some tips and that cover to... and whats the deal with it not working with the plastic mount?
my wifes 99 dually doesn't have gauges either. She has just the edge evo in tow mode.I ran it in extreme for her once to clean the carbon out it did allright
You'll have fun with the install.Biggest pain was the rear of the heads.I think on the 99's you have to grind alittle on the pedastal.I don't know on this mine is a 02.
Like they said, throttle response was noticeable more than anything. And a little smoother.

I just found on my regulated return system that my factory fuel pump can't keep up with the demand. also the power is there consistently the engine is much quieter and smoother. But there is a downside to this mod, you have to be much more careful when driving in the rain or accelerating out of a turn it has a tendency to spin the tire much more easily

Check out the archives for "shimmed fuel regulator" its kind of a poor mans fuel system upgrade. Wont do the same things that our sponsors fuel system kits will, but it did give me better pedal response. Only takes an hour to do, is cheap and fun to do.
The return fuel system kits are totally worth doing, helps get rid of them air bubbles that kill hp dead.
