ScanGaugeII - is it any good?

I was wondering if anyone has used the ScanGaugeII. Is it any good as a Trip Computer? What about as a code reader? I assume that since it is getting its data from the Truck Computer that its accuracy may be similar to the factory ones - which I have not heard a lot of good about (my truck doesn't have one).

Thanks,

Mike.

I borrowed one from a friend. If you've been to their site you see what it can do. If you program the right codes in it, and your computer puts out, it will give you some cool info.

I could not get it to tell me cyl. head temp, barometric press., water temp, and several other things I wanted to know. It religiuosly told me I was getting 9.8 mpg - at 50mph w/cruise on for miles or 80 and belching smoke.

I did like reading and clearing codes at a red lite. The digital tach, volt meter, etc were cool. I'll get it again when I get back in a couple weeks, and contact scangauge for help gettin' those features to work - if they will...

It was like $169 - right?

sounds like a boost leak or a ic boot flew off.

Yes, they retail for $169 and you can buy them for about $159 at online retailers.

So is the one you borrowed a "II" or the original? From their website, they made a lot of improvements over the original.

Mike.

I'm not getting 9.8 mpg - the thing is obviously not accurate. Even the stock lie-o-meters will vary w/driving conditions... not sure what this thing measures or if the chip screws it up. 'Stock' setting on chip (or any other) made no difference.

Even w/a minor boost leak, I can nail 25psi at will. Estimated 15-17mpg empty. I'll install the rest of my dieselsite boots when I go home to get them. Unfortunately they were shipped there automatically when they came in, and I am on the other side of the country.

It was an Scangauge II.
