advantages? will it help with mpg?

It's not an MPG boost. Shimming properly bring the fuel pressure up from the Ford spec to the IH spec that IH used for it's motor applications. For some it help with a little better acceleration and reduction in cackle/noise. My theory is that the higher pressure fills the fuel chamber around the injector better (compressing the trapped air in the chamber) so the intake port of the injector gets all fuel and no air/fuel mix. At least most of the time.
