You can not stack chips, there is only one location to put a chip. You can not stack a chip on top of a tuner because the chip will make the tune null and void. You can stack a plug in module like a banks 6 gun/edge juice/edge ez/preditor/etc... but the gain +/-10hp is not worth the cost. Just get a chip from DI, DP Tuner or TW and be done with it.

Some will argue, others will agree, few have done it and learned the hard way.

Just to elaborate a little bit on what strokin_early_99 said......

"Stacking" power adders on a Powerstroke usually yields less than stellar results because everything that is done with fuel modules (like the Edge Juice or Banks 6 Gun) is usually incorporated into the programming on a "chip" or a flash programmer (like the Superchips 1705 or Hypertech).

It is not possible to "stack" a programmer with a "chip". The operation of a chip and how it completely bypasses the PCMs internal memory negates any effect of aftermarket flash tuner operation.

You CAN use a fuel module (ICP fooler) in conjunction with a chip or a programmer, but as stated above, it's not really going to do much for you....especially with a Wildman/DI/DP Tuner chip that already incorporates higher than stock injection control pressure (ICP). Too much desired ICP (and not being able to maintain it) will result in default pressures and a check engine light.

However, there are companies such as Edge that capitalize on "stacking". Take the Juice/Evolution combination. They sell you two products to do the same thing that they COULD HAVE DONE with just the Evolution. Instead, they use the Juice to jack up injection pressure and the Evolution to change shift characteristics and fuel control....all of which could have been done with just the programmer. So instead of making $450 on a programmer only, they make $750 or so on two pieces of equipment.

The Juice (or 6 Gun/Striker/etc.) DO do what they claim...they give you a nice little HP increase...but in the end, a custom chip can do much more for not a lot more money!!

Guys thanks for the info. I'm looking at doing a little not a lot. I have a landscaping business and pull a trailer weighing about 6500 lbs. about every day and trying to get the most mileage out of it. I have an Edge Evolution that I got from a friend for $50.00. I have a DIY intake and 4" exhaust turbo back with a Jibson muffler. I thought about selling the Edge and getting a TW or TS chip. Any pros or cons for eather one. Again thanks

I have a TS I bought on Ebay for $250. It came with these settings: stock, high idle, 50, 75, 100, and 140. They say thats what the horsepower ratings are but it's impossible from just a chip. It definetly woke it up, and makes it shift better. I know a guy that custom burns the TS chips and for $50 he reset my settings im just telling you what the positions are idk the hp ratings now : stock, 50, 75 lopes a little, 100 kicks OD up to 55mph, 140 same but lopes like crazy it shakes the whole truck it is awesome. People don't think much about Powerstrokes but when you pull up to the sled it sure sounds like you have one hell pf a truck. lol I'm happy with it my truck has 220,000mi on it and the tranny didn't like it cuz I hot rodded on 140hp to much, but if you are easy on it you will like it. All I have done is a cold air intake, custom TS, and 3.5" straight pipe from turbo back and I get 25psi out of the turbo now.

Anyone that runs a chip on the top tune without gauges needs the grey matter between their ears examined .......That is a big

A 97 with a 3.5" turbo back?.......................3" is a PITA but a 3.5" is another story

Nothing wrong with the motor except PMR's or powdered metal rods. They are the biggest weak link in the late 7.3's. Most people say to stay under 400 rwhp with PMR's. or you might be adding a "window" to the block. But some will argue and I have seen pmr's let go in a completely stock motor.
Get gauges and a DP-tuner or Diesel Innovations custom chip. That would be your best bet.

I've got guages DiPricol boost, EGT, Trans. I will look into getting a DP chip.
Thanks a lot for the info. I will keep it on the low HP settings if that might happen to the motor.
