I'm selling my 95 7.3, can I return it to stock programing, and use the programer on my 03 7.3 or is the programer VIN locked to the 95?
Thanks guys!! I'm new to the form. I have heard lots of good things about this form.

The Superchips DON'T VIN LOCK. You'll just have to make sure that you have a 1705 because I believe that the older 1700 programmer only goes up to 2002 .

It is Vin Locked until you return the original truck back to stock, then it is unlocked to program another truck. It is designed so you can't program several trucks off one programmer.

What Elevatn said! Also sell it as it is not a good programmer for a 2003. High EGT, screaming turbo and a loud noisy motor. Had one and went to a custom tune and the truck runs allot better.

However, You can return your SuperChip to the factory and they can update there program's within the unit.
I think the cost was $10.00 to have mine reprogramed...most of which was for postage.
Weather there is somthing better on the market at a reasonable price I can not speak too.
But I do wish that some one who know, more on the subject, to chime in here. I am always interested in a "Better Mouse Trap".

It depends on what you are looking for. A hand held tuner with the ability to read codes will give you less performance on average. Edge products works good for most people but if you are the ones that it didn't work on then a very bad taste in your mouth for any programmer/chip. I have switch from a Super chip to a custom PCM tune from DP-Tuner. Allot better performance over the 1705 but I needed to add a ATS housing for turbo surge. I went this route for warranty issued saving my stock PCM. Also if you don't have the need to switch between hp levels then single tune is a cheap way. I personally run the DP tuner and would recommend it but there are many great tuners out there. Go for the custom tune and you will not only be safer motor wise but will have more power than most handhelds. Otherwise these same tuners have multi tune chips but at a cost.
