Superchips leads to missfire/shaking engine... ideas?

I let my friend try out my superchips so I can sell it and buy a real chip.

Half way through the day he stops back, with a horrible running truck. He said it ran fine, until he stomped on it (he did many times before), and it instantly set a code. It also idles bad, and all around runs like crap.

Is this missfire a direct relation to the programmer? The truck is a 2001, has 52k miles on it, and a recent CPS change.

The only code it has is a PO603 KAM something or other, that apparently is normal, though it never came up on mine.

I'm going to get a OTC scan tool tonight, and do the buzz test, but any other ideas?

BTW.. all different levels of programming, back to stock, and OTC scan tool didn't fix the problem. The KAM code comes up instantly, and the misfire is still there.

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Superchips leads to missfire/shaking engine... ideas?

I did some more testing, and it looks like injector number 2 is failed. My guess is that it was failing, and the programmer helped it along.
Before I go pulling everything apart, any other ideas?

Heres what I found:

cylinder contribution test gave code P0266 Cylinder 2 contribution/balance fault

KOEO test gave code P1272 High to low side open cylinder number 2

KOER test gave code P0476 exhaust back pressure control vavle

Thanks,

Joe

I would bet that the uvc harness is coming apart. I would get a new updated one from ford.

The programmer didn't do it, it was just coincidence. Uvc harnesses come apart all the time.

Re: Superchips leads to missfire/shaking engine... ideas?

Thanks guys. I know its not the chip, but it was just a big coincidence that it happened the same day.

I didn't loose the sale, he still wants it! My order will be in with Jody Monday.

Back to the other truck.. Problem fixed itself. That means its most likely the UVC harness. An injector won't fix itself, right?

Thanks again,

Joe
