I sincerely believe that you don't have to buy a converter from a "big name" company to get quality and craftsmanship, they all make a good product but it is hard to justify the prices.

Why do you need a converter? If you stock one is going out, get a stock replacement. A 80K trans is way more likely to break than a fresh rebuild. So, do you know what happens when you buy say a $1000 converter and mate it to an old trans? Pretty much like an 18 yo boy with an 80 yo woman or vice versa. It won't be pretty. When your trans breaks, you have to clean out the expensive TC. That means it has to be cut apart, cleaned up, welded back again and balanced. That translates to $$. Wait till your trans gives then buy a good TC.

From what I have heard, a highly efficient TC will stress out the trans.

So, if you plan a high dollar rebuild within 2 years, get the Precision Industries TC. They offer a free "restall" within 2 years. That means you can have them cut the thing apart and clean it for free.

That is why a $500 converter sounds way better, my tranny had 113k when I put my triple billet in, no problems with tranny here, it is relative to put a new improved converter on a tranny with 80k or 100k+ miles.
If Ford's transmissions were that wimpy even after you maintain it regularly, then i doubt it that they would sell so many and so many are towing hard everyday w/ only improved converters in.

no but...

There are many tq converter manufacturers that are small family owned but still offer quality at a budget.
I checked their website and it seems that they do not offer triple bearings and I was not sure if they make a dual or triple.

Take care!

Adrian

well.....

if it breaks you know where to find me, but it shouldn't be that bad unless you are driving it hard on a daily basis or towing hard all the time.

dont go with suncoast
mine had a chatter to it ever since new and my mechanic pulled the pan and found some metal so i called suncoast to see about having it checked well even though it only has about 25kmiles on a 1300 dollar converter they told me it was out of warranty and they didnt even make that one anymore and all they could do was cut it open and tell me if it was bad so i could buy another one from them or pay them to put it back together if it is good but it is probably bad. so they want me to pay to ship it to them so they can tell me it is bad just som i have buy another one from them or pay them to put it back together and then pay to ship it back just to have a core
anyone have a good replacement suggestion?

You could get a PI from BTS and when the trans breaks, he probably will warranty it for you without too much hassle.

BTS will not sell his converter for a stock trans..if the trans then blows the converter is full of crap. For a good stock rebuild its better to use the 6.0 converter setup for a 7.3.
