turbo issue

I have a 2000 7.3 that only builds 16 pounds of boost? the intercooler boots do not look that bad i had a ford mechanic tell me the waste gate was messed up and it was internal and i could do nothing to fix it! the truck has a bully dog 6 position programmer, air raid intake 4 inch down pipe 5 inch straight out the back, and boost fooler.i have a chance to get a turbo off a 1997 7.3, the guy has the complete engine so i could use all the up pipes and turbo pedistal. my question to you is what do i have to do to adapt this turbo to my truck? Thanks for any advise you could give me.

Here's your solution to waste gate issues: http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=875
That will allow you to up it to the max of 25 PSI for your stock turbo. Even if boots don't LOOK bad, check all claps, make sure they are tight. Clean around them so that in a few days or a week you can look again for any new residue buildup that might show signs of a leak. No need for a turbo swap like that.

Un plug it and check your boost, you should be able to adjust it.
Your BD maynot be asking for wnough fuel also.
Could also have leaks.

No need to change turbo
