turbonetics

Should I go with a Turbonetics BB turbo? I was going to get a Garrett but they are all out of stock. I tow both a 7000# and 14000# trailers. 3.73 gears. Up and down hills. I need a turbo to cure surge and last a long time. I have no plan of big oil or injectors, unless something happens to the stockers. Do I need head studs with this turbo?

Its either this or some sort of custom one based on a stocker.

That is a good upgrade option. You will like it much more than a stock upgraded replacement. Both the compressor wheel and turbine wheel are larger than stock and will move more air. Your decision will be what size turbine housing to go with, .84 or 1.00 A/R. You may have lower EGT's with the 1.00, but it may take a second longer to spool up depending on your elevation. But with no chip and a 3 inch DP you may want to stick with the .84 housing. Either way you will eliminate turbo surge with most all aftermarket turbo options available.

My1.00 A/R housing spools like a grandma when my chip is in stock mode

stick with the TN for towing like that, won't have to be as concerned with keeping the RPMs up to avoid surge.
