upgrading to 6.0 TC.

Just ordered a 6.0 TC from the dealership today. $291 exchange. Now all I need is a way to get in touch with John Wood to purchase the adaptor kit so it'll work in my 4R100. I've sent an email and left a message but haven't heard anything back yet. I know he's busy as heck but does anyone know him personally that can help me get in touch with him with the quickness?

Anybody else running a 6.0 TC that can give me some feedback on likes/dislikes?

Thanks,
DH

Re: upgrading to 6.0 TC.

Hey I am interested in getting the 6.0 convertor as well. I was wondering if your TC was beginning to slip before you purchased the 6.0, and also how many miles you have on your tranny. I have a 2000 with 144K on my tranny and have been looking for a new TC, but I just don't have the money for the high-end billet ones. Let me know on the details buddy, THANKS!

How about some details on why not. Drive by statements like "Don't waste your time and money, like I did(big mistake)." Scares the stuffing out of folks. Was I just not high enough performance wise for you or did you have some major problems?

TXPSD99, yes my TC is slipping a pretty good bit. If you have a 2000 with 144k miles on the original TC, consider yourself lucky. Well, I take that back. Your only lucky if your truck is not stock. We both have the single disk TC, which has since been updated to a triple disk TC. When I first purchased my DP-Tuner, my tires would bark when I was hammering down on the go petal. Now when my TC locks up, it's a slow drop in RMP's, hense slippage.

I don't abuse my truck and don't really use the added power from the chip unless it's needed or a race breaks out at a stop light. Even those rare times will be enough to toast your stock TC lock up clutch. Going with a high dollar TC just wasn't feasible at this point and besides, the 6.0 TC is pretty darn hard to beat for the price. If or when I decide to spend some big bucks, I’ll be going with a BTS. Can’t see spending big bucks on an aftermarket converter with no beefed up internals. I'll let you know what I think once it's installed.

Joey didn't bother giving us any facts, so I will.

Last time I checked 'Stroked Lightning' was on the stock TC at well over 600 RWHP, 633 to be exact. This truck has 3 stages of NOS, and is the quickest Power Stroke in the world right now.
ON THE STOCK CONVERTER.

I don't know about you, but that's a little tougher than my stocker, I could destroy it at will with 15 mins of wailing in 120.

BTW, not slamming you GSXR, I figure you'll swing back by and offer some more commentary.

Re: upgrading to 6.0 TC.

I am sure Joey will chime in here.........

In a nut shell Joey ran a 6.0 converter for about 2 years. he was one of the first to put one in his truck..... that lowly converter left him stranded 500 miles from home with his wife and kids in the truck, pulling his trailer and bikes to the dunes. I towed his truck to Salt Lake and Wide Open put a trans from BTS in. Brian was later contacted and he had told us that the trans was really in pretty good shape, converter was junk. The 6.0 just could not hang pulling his heavy azz trailer up the sierras.

There isn't enough difference between a 7.3 and 6.0 TC to make as much difference as you imply.

If you just want to replace a wore out stocker, put another stock 7.3 TC in.

Just curious! Was the converter abused, used for drag racing or anything in that nature? I'm not into drag racing my high $$$$ truck, just wanting something to do a good job as a daily driver, tow every now and again, and something that can handle the rare stop light to stop light squabble. [/ QUOTE ]Thanks Jeremy!

Nick is also correct, just get a new factory replacement.

Gregrob, I pulled a sled once, and towed the rest of the time(32ft fifth wheel toy hauler).
Also, Greg do you know how the 6.0 lock-up operates compared to the 7.3?
Find out and you will know why it holds up so well in the 6 leaker.
