Valve body or tuner?

My truck is stock with 220,000 + miles on it.
I am in the process of installing a utility bed.

Would it be helpful or harmful to think of a tuner or valve body upgrade to help out the transmission?

The trans is original. The truck runs great and has been a daily driver since 2003.

Of course I will install a new 6.0 cooler.

With that many miles, if you do something to the tranny and something goes wrong in a few thousand miles, who knows if what you did caused it? How have you maintained it?

I wouldn't bother with a valve body unless you have sloppy shifts when tuned.

Just do a better cooler and possibly just a sonnax kit and call it good until the trans bites the dust

Which sonnax kit do you suggest?

Just the one that replaces the accumulator valves. It's pretty cheap and it helps firm up shifts more

My shifts are not sloppy. I was just thinking about the truck having extra weight on it with the utility body and more tools.

The sonnax kit I looked up 36948-18K, accumulator spring kit,
reccommends also 96948-01K, pressure modulator valve kit.

Anyone know if these can be installed while on my back under the truck?

Will I need to get a trans shop involved?

You can do this at home no problem. You will need a good in lb torque wrench

Thanks for the advice. One more item to put on "the list."

I have read it many times but can't locate the thread.

The 6.0 trans cooler ... 26 row or 31 row?

Maybe I'm overthinking the issue.

26 row. No benefit to the 31.
