Im curious, i have read threads about the turbo master, and i am leaning twords getting it. But havent heard anything on how it works while opening when shifting? Sorry, as i am not completely knowledgable on how my truck works (why im on here, still trying to learn), but if im being a lead foot, and have to completely pull my foot off at say 22-25psi, doesnt the wastegate open to compensate for the suden change? I have a stock turbo, i have a wicked wheel in the mail (plan on doing wheel and wastegate at same time), would i be risking some sort of turbo surge or back pressure if i am flooring it and then let off with the turbo master? Any help is greatly appreciated. I just ordered the wheel this morning and want to get on ordering a new waste gate. The only other options i have seen are the BD wastegate or Banks BHA. Thanks for the help.

Just an idea to think about. I have a 6 speed. Some times I am at 21lb and when I shift my boost drops. I have never twistesd the turbo shaft or broke it. In my opinion stay below 25lb and you really wont have any issues. I have the turbomaster waiting to be put on. So have fun. Just keep it out of the red....

The wastegate will not affect your shifting. It you set a turbomaster to say 25lbs, it doesn't start to open until that point and it bleeding off any excess boost so that it stays at 25. If you are at say the max boost you set, again 25 psi and shift, it would close the wastegate if boost drops below 25 psi.
The only issue you may have is with your MAP sensor if you don't have a boost fooler.
I have floored it racing and hit 35 psi and when I let off, the only thing you hear is excess air being expelled out the air intake.
Just do it, it is some of the best money you will spend on your truck. The Turbomaster works seamlessly and doesn't waste any boost until it hits the limit you set.
I am in the middle of installing mine, and have a question.. I got the stock waste gate off, and have worked at getting the new one in there (tough spot, and big hands, and very little visibility). I believe that the wastegate lever has turned, in all of the pics it shows the lever "pointing" towards the exhaust housing inlet, mine is "pointing" towards the turbo..
I can't turn it with my fingers, is it supposed to be easy to turn? Or do i have to put pliers on it and turn it like that? Or is it in the right spot and im just turned around?
Thanks, I will try to lightly turn it with pliers and see if that helps.
Well I ran out of patience and light today.. WIll get back to it tomorrow. Im sure its a lot easier with two hands in there, but a shoulder injury only lets my right hand in so far.
Have fun with that c clip!!!!! oh I cussed at it a few times. If you haven't tried it yet get an inspection mirror so you can get an idea of what you are doing, also tie a piece of small string or dental floss to the c clip. Those clips like to go flying if you don't push it on just right, with the string attached you can just fish the clip back to your hands and try try try again

To the OP; our trucks have no throttle plate so there is no need for anything to open to release the pressure. As far as a sudden change in pressure (25 psi to Opsi) it will not hurt anything.
Also, I have the TM.....you will love it.

We did finally get it, not sure if it was a slight flaw in the machining or what, but we had to take a very small amount of material off the arm on the actuator. With it on the wastegate "post", we could not see the groove. Took a few thousandths off maybe and were able to get it on there.
Anyone have an idea on how it would change MPG in normal unloaded driving? Seems like it should be better if the stock wastegate bleeds off under light boost.

The only way you would notice a "noticable differance" would be if the old waste gate was improperly adjusted causing it to stay slightly or to slightly open while under boost.
I just cranked mine tighter and removed the boost line. With my 1.0 A/R housing it doesn't make as much boost as fast as it did with the stock housing.
