What is the differance in HPOP from 96 to 02

I am thinking of putting in a new T-500 or Adrenaline pump in my 2002 that I am going to put bigger injectors in. It only has 121,000 mile on it and it runs perfect. I also have a 1996 that has 270,000 miles on it and it runs ok. I have only owned this one for a year so I don't know what has all been done to it. What I would like to know is, is the pump in the 02 bigger than the one in the 96 as in 17 vs 15. Since I have to send a core back would it be better to send the one out of the 96 back and put the one out of the 02 in the 96. Thanks in advance for the replies. This site is a godsend for info.

The 17* pump from the newer trucks is better. The t500 is a 17* pump. It does not matter what you send them, it will end up a 17* pump. they just ask that you tell them if you are sending a 15* or 17*.

I bought a used pump, but I am not sure what it is. I plan on having it turned into a t500. Depending on your current situation. I would send your pump in to have them build it for you, rather than using it for a core.

Hope this helps

Since you have a 2002 PMR motor..stage 1's are the safe option and will run on a stock 17* pump. So I'd first get the Inj's and just scan and see how your stock HPOP is doing..bet its fine.

I we can help we have all needed.

Is the new T-500 or the Adrenaline the same thing that is in my 2002 then which would be a 17.
Then is the one in the 1996 a 15.
If the after market pumps are better what do they do to them that makes them better ?

The 17* pump is definitely better than the 15*. Also from what I've read, the 17* is needed for certain size injectors that the 15* can't handle, but my info may be a little off.
Yes the T-500 and adrenaline are also 17* pumps. I do not know all the technical info between 15*/17* etc.
The T-500 is basically a modified 17* pump. Terminator engineering does some things to it to better the performance of the stock pump. It will flow more than a stocker and be able to keep up with higher demands. The T-500 is also cheaper than a stock pump which makes it a great choice.
I do not know exactly what they do to the Adrenaline, but its also a modified pump.

I'll let someone with more experience explain it to you properly. HPOP's opens a can of worms imo. Hybrid injectors can easily run off a healthy stock 17* pump. However if your stock pump cannot provide what it needs to and/or you have issues with bigger injectors, then a t-500, adrenaline, srp 1.1 will be needed.
Many will also say any of these aftermarket pumps will give you noticeable improvements no matter what, I can tell you thats a crock of crap. I run 250/100's and my stock pump did just fine. Decided to get an srp1.1 to try because many claimed I would feel a big difference. I felt no differences. I definitely do not have any issues keeping flow, thats for sure.
I also have a spare hpop I plan to have turned into a t-500 for a backup. I honestly think if you need a new hpop, I would go with the T-500 because it will do fine for most applications and is the cheapest. I would only get a different hpop if you have issues with your existing pump or want to have the 17* instead of 15*. Otherwise adrenaling/srp isn't worth the money unless you have huge oil demands. Thats just my opinion

Yes, your 96 has a 15* pump unless someone has changed it
