As such, the only edge I can think that BTS has is the warranty and the lack of stages.
I find it odd that you do not think John Wood stands behind his work. Any evidence or just biased accusations? The official BTS warranty is 2 years; I think that is the same as JW. Many say that BTS stands behind their product much longer. That is great, but I have no reason to expect any less from John.
I run the JW transmission but would be fine with either.

Who makes the best Popcorn? Kinda the same question..
With the 4R100 it really comes down to who you like. Pick any of the popular trannys and you should be happy. Call them up pick their brain. See who you get that warm fuzzy feeling from...

we won't talk about that other thread where that guy can't seem to get them to mail something to him..hmm
Why not? BTS is good but something will always slip thru the cracks or there will be something that isn't right. Nobody is that good. Personally I am not convinced it is the sensors. I think it is more PCM since I have fried the PCM program on mine and it acted irratically. I offered to lend him my known good sensors to test the theory out but I doubt that is the answer.

Wow, just finished reading this topic. Lots of info here if you read it all. Well my tranny is on the way out as it is dumping fluid out of the front seal at 170*.
I just spoke to John this last week and setup an appointment for a month end Towmaster install. 3 year / unlimited mile warranty.
Not too many pictures in this thread. If this thread is still alive in a couple weeks, I'll add some pics from the JW install.

Lets see it. If I have any issues while living in Cali, I'm headed to JW.

Bummer!
Yep, we are at mother G several times a year and the big bonus is when we head over to Buttercup (south Glamis area for those that don't know) the route goes right thru El Centro/Holtville area. Its great to know that JW Auto is just a hop, skip and jump from Buttercup in case of an emergency.
I'll have to talk with John when I'm there for his magic to try and meet up sometime and share a fire, cold one, ride, or what ever.
10 days and counting now. Ahhh, I miss my PSD. I need it driveable again!
While driving my 71 Scout II is fun, I just miss my smoker. As a bonus, Scouts run a gasser International engine too. Much smaller but still made by a great company.
Later,
Larry
