Ford6X6, the BTS is good for over 400,000 miles towing commercially. Myself, and a buddy with the same basic truck as mine, have accomplished the 400K. Another buddy with a F550 has about 275K on his BTS. Brian builds one fine tranny!
Dezl, sure glad you did not break the JW tranny. Keep on wuppin' those chevys

I went to BTS website. It makes me a little nervous. They say they can't quote a rebuild cost w/out testing, hearing, looking at, the transmission.
If I am going to have a transmission rebuilt I am not interested in only doing part of the job. I want it all rebuilt. Otherwise I would have a partially rebuilt transmission. That means some of the parts are still old.
Surely they can provide a cost to rebuild a complete transmission.
I went to their FAQ section to find their warranty information and it is not there. I looked at the other website headings and it is not there either.
Does BTS even have a warranty?
How is effected by chips? I have the Bully Dog TS Performance chip. Does it play a part in the warranty?

Matt, i am almost positive that Brian does a complete rebuild of the trans. I wouldnt worry about a thing. As for is Warranty, it is 2 years and he pays for the shipping and the repairs. After the two years, u pay the shipping and he pays the repairs. u cant really beat the price.

You couldn't have went to BTS site..maybe someone elses by mistake?
No where on BTS site do they say anything about quoting a price and it very clearly states the warrentee. All the even say is For information please call Patti. They don't have a FAQ section...
Bullydog how does it affect the warrentee..I'll let them answer that but I wouldn't ever use one..junk.

I got the chip for my 7.3 PS directly from TS Performance. It has worked well for me.
And the Tripple Dog w/ Outlook does what it is advertised to do. Except, for some reason it does not read the engne temperature. It always reads 32 degrees. One of the advantages I like is the on the fly adjustability of both products.
I am curious why you feel that they are "junk". Perhaps you have some information I do not. If there is a better product out there I am open to the new information. After all, I have had the products for a few years now. Maybe it is time for an "upgrade"!!!!!

There is not one tranny builder, not one, who doesn't reuse some of the parts from the old one. He may throw all the parts in a barrel..then inspect them later..but unless you drive a top fuel dragster you're going to get some of your old parts. Face it, some of them will outlast the chassis of the truck...like gears..bearings..etc. I'm just sayin'

That is the wrong website. Go to Brianstruckshop.com. His web page has been the same for years. $4600 for a complete rebuild with new torque converter.
The only parts that will remain original is the case and valve body housing. Every shaft is replaced with new cryogenic heat treated billet shafts. Your clutch drums will be sent too his machinist for modifications for the next customer. Your planetary gearsets are replaced with chromoly gear sets. One way roller clutches are used instead of crappy mechanical diodes. The bushings are replaced with roller bearings etc etc etc.....
As long as you own your truck, he will warranty the transmission. He also bought me lunch.
any worries about just ordering a BTS tranny and mailing in your old one as a core after the swap??

No worries at all doing business with Brians truck shop. There is no bs, false promises etc. Brian's "hand shake warranty" is legendary. No need for any printed warranty loaded with mumbo jumbo.

Man you guys suck!! Do you know what this thread has done to me the past three days??? Let's just say I haven't be going to bed early (note the time of this post). Throughout the day I had to restrain myself from reading more so I could focus on the things I "needed" to get done.
I feel like I completed a mission...oh, yah that's right, I did!! I finished reading this thread. Good work boyz, now I don't know what to do. I think I need counseling for BTS vs. JW debate withdrawal syndrome.
Man, I can't count how many times I laughed while reading this thing
I agree 415_Dezl, TDS needed a little something to stir things up, way to go; thanks
I probably could have rebuilt my own tranny with the amount of time I spent reading this whole thread. But now I know that would be the dumbest thing I could do. The smartest thing I could when I decide to have my tranny rebuilt is leave St.Paul, MN and drive down HWY35 right past BTS on my way to SoCal and have John Wood rebuild my tranny. I figure leaving here in the middle of January would be a good time to go and would show how smart I am, and the extra $900 I spend in fuel to get there and back should give me more pull later when I enter this debate later as a JW'er!! I'm sure this thread will still be going by then. Let's hope so anyway.
Yea, we suck alright. We got you addicted to this thread, and sent you to school on tranny's. It seems, you are going to make a good decision, take a trip to Socal, and get out of the deep freeze of MN. The bottom line of the best tranny work is BTS or JW.
