I have an '00 f250. I am looking at some o4 harley wheels. I know the wheels will fit, but didnt the thread pitch on the studs change at some point? If it is different, what would I do for lugs? These wheels have exposed chrome lugs, so I couldnt use mine.

The lug pattern (8x170mm) is the same, the lug thread pitch (14x1.5mm) is NOT the same. The HD edition wheels will fit with no issue, but you will need to find some lugs that look good and use the 2.0mm thread pitch that your truck uses.

These probably would be good enough to hold the wheels on, but they probably will not work with the center caps. Most likely the only lugs that will work with the center caps are the '04 OEM ones. You may have to look into having your wheel studs changed out to 14x1.5 and getting a set of OEM H-D lugs. Wheel locks were also standard equipment on the '04 H-D's and I would also assume that those are the only wheel locks that would work with the center caps also.

I got a part # F81Z1107AA from the dealership for wheels studs, both front and rear at $3.77 each, does that sound right. Anyone know if the 04 studs will fit right in the 00 wheel flange? If so, how hard is it to change them? Thanks

I don't know of a big change in the studs other than the thread pitch. I'm certian they would need to be pressed out/pressed in so if you did one as a tester that would prevent a big expense in parts. You just need to research the pressing out of the studs and what would be required to remove to make it happen.

A buddy that runs the local oreilly found some washered chrome lug nuts that are 14X2.0. They look almost exacly like the factory harley nuts, except the washers are smooth on the backside, instead of having the lines in them to help keep the nuts from backing off, but I think they will be OK. The Dorman # is 611-230, and they were $.39 each. Heres the kicker. The book showed them to be 14X2. He ordered them, and they showed up in a box marked 14X1.5, and had 12mm nut in it. So he ordered a few more boxes, and one box had 14X2, and the other had 12mm, but they were both marked 14X1.5. Anyhow he ended up ordering 8 boxes of 10 to get 4 boxes that had what I needed, and they all were marked 14X1.5. Kinda screwy, but I scored some nuts for $16. He thought the price was fishy, but still gave em to me for that, but was going to send in an inquiry to see what was up. Long story short, if you need some nuts for harley wheels on a truck with 14X2.0 studs these will work for cheap IF you can get them and IF the price was right. I just got them mounted they look saweeeet.

Well, these lug nuts started rusting after just a few months. Now over a year later, they really look bad, so Im looking for something else. Anyone ran accross any other options? Thanks

I just got the 2004 SVT rims a few months back. The ones that look like the Harley ones but no Harley markings. I was worried about the lugs until I found out my old center caps would fit and they cover the lugs. I just re-used my old ones,no issues so far. I thought the Harley ones were much the same? I couldn't use the 2 wheel drive center caps that came with mine though.
I got mine for 125 a piece from discount tire direct (I think). The are labeled a 2 wheel drive wheel, but they are the same. Even got a spare. But man do the 18" tires hurt the wallet a lot more than the 16".

What was your initial cost? Maybe you could order 2 new sets and just swap them out as they get trashed. Aside from swapping the studs out to the 1.5 thread pitch which could be more expensive up front, but yeild a better long term solution.

Got any pics of those wheels? I like the look of the exposed lug nuts on these wheels, so I would rather keep the center caps. Why cant you use the 2wd center caps? Cause you have manual hubs? I made a tool to lock mine in, and drilled a small hole in the cap, that a 5/16" allen wrench fits through. I could get some pics if you want.
