I could change studs, but they are $$$. And it would kinda be a PITA. I would just rather find some nuts that will work

It sounds like you need a better quality lug nut compared to what you have already found.

I thought about finding some old front unit bearings an taking the studs out of them. Would that work? Do the replacements ship with new studs? KInda a pain, but doable. The studs were like $3 each from ford IIRC.

Look at the FX4 lug nuts for like an '03 F-150. They are chrome exposed lug nuts, and I'm sure they are 14x2.0 I have a set of 5 in my tool box at work left over as extras from my '01 Supercrew that I put a set of FX4 wheels on. I am sure they will work as I have a bunch of lug nuts factory and aftermarket chrome from various trucks I've had. I hang on to them. And I know my '01 F-150 Supercrew and my '01 F-250 Superduty have the same lugs and studs.

My wheels

Attached is the picture with the 2WD covers. I don't know how to resize the pic to make it smaller. I can take some tomorrow of mine if you want to see it with standard 4WD covers.
