08 Super Duty Dash in 04 Excursion

Does anybody here know of someone who has upgraded their interior to 2008 or later.

I have an 04 Excursion 4x4 EB almost paid off and I don't want to spend another 50k for the look.... My truck is cherry...

My budget is decent so Please chime in..

I already have all the parts for the 08 front end which I'm going to do soon.

Eddie

The 05+ insturment cluster is. Not plug and play and not really easy at all since the dash uses a data cable. Unlike the older trucks that had individual wires for everything. I would guess the 08+ uses the same setup. I have seen a 05+ dash using the 04 cluster which looked factory. I read a few posts about swapping dashes and keeping the stock cluster but haven't seen any pictures. Might start with a google search to get a wide spectrum of awnsers

Well the reason I posted this is because I did consult Dr. Google and I got no hits o the conversion. Not one! I was thinking of running the 08 dash with auto-meter gauges sorta like the Escalade the got a Duramax diesel conversion on diesel power mag... I also called painless wiring and they were not interested. I guess I'm the only crazy one who wants to do this.

Go for it! You could be the first one to get this going.

Well.. I talked to Al from Southern Diesel here in Lakeland FL. I'm waiting for Gary Wrongway to get back from vacation to see about getting this done.. I see a lot of people have read my thread, if you have any suggestions to have it done please let me know. I'm also thinking of getting donations for the research part of this. Anybody who contributes to this no matter how large or small would get the step by step plans to do the conversion once I'm done. The donations would go straight to Gary at Southern.

Also for anyone interested, I can provide you the complete parts list to upgrade to an 08 front end. Now that the 11 is out I'm tempted to get it going, however, Rock Auto or none of the dealers that I have contacted have 2011 parts yet...

Well I've been interested in this conversation as well. I have a very nice low mileage 'just turned 70k miles' 2002 F350 lariat dually. I have done the complete 2008-2011 rear with a new tailgate with the step and backup camera, 2011 tail lights, and the new rear bumper w/ reverse sensors. Up front I went with the 2005-2007 front end as I really like the clean look of that front end. I have been collecting the parts to do the 2008-2011 interior.

Here's some pics of what I have so far.

To do this right I've been collecting the wiring schematics of both years so I can marry the two together and have everything work right.
After a close look at the a/c system, I'm going to have to change out the Evap/heater housing as well to get all the functions of the auto temp control.
I will say this, this conversation will be very challenging but I will make it happen.....

Have you been working on this project? How has it been going so far? This is one that I am interested in if it is not to complicated. Where are you located by the way? With a screen name like DaCajun, I thought you might be close.

Close, well that really kinda depends on your location. I'm from south Louisiana but live in Dallas Tx. Been here since 1992 and have to constantly tell the locals no I'm not from Katrina been here way before then, and please don't put me in that label. For some unknown reason Katrina people aren't received to well.

Ok, back to the truck. I did three of the door panels, all but the drivers side. They pretty much go right on but had to drill a couple of holes to put the screws that hold the panels on. Some of the wiring connectors will work and some will need to be converted over to the new style. Since I'm going to be doing the 2010 dash install later I wait till then to update the door harnesses to the 2010 harness as well. BTW, I have already installed the newer 2010 mirrors with power fold, retract and heat. To make this go as smooth as possible I purchased the 2002 Ford Superduty Factory wiring manual and the manual for the 2010 Superduty as well. My 2002 has manual A/C and the 2010 has auto temp control. The newer A/C is way different than the pre 2008 A/Cs. For one they no longer have the evaporator core protruding thru the firewall mounting under the hood. Also the 2010 A/C has dual the climate controls for the passenger and the driver. With it being so fricken hot outside I'm going to wait and do the dash exchange this fall. When I do I will create a new thread with very detailed pictures of the whole conversation. I can't wait to get this done as just having the newer door panels makes the older style look very dated.
