I recently purchased a 2001 F250 4x4. The truck has a 1 ton stack in the rear suspension. The front has been leveled with a pieces of box tube 3" tall. The box tube appears to fit on the shackle fine, just the right size. I was wanting to know how safe this is?
Thanks

So he welded this box tube to the bottom of the frame and bolted factory shackles through it??? I think thats what your saying ? It dosen't sound good to me.What did he do about axle angle, did he use big shim blocks or reweld spring purchs on axle housing, did he do anything to front drive shaft or is the slip joint fully extended. And when you say it has 1 Ton stacks in the back, your refering to complete leaf springs from a 1 ton? Sorry if I'm missing something here. You really need to post a Picture.

I am picturing a 3" box tube as a "Block"? (Between the diff and spring?) If that's the case, it is NOT safe, MANY MANY on here and other forums. (WELL INFORMED persons, with lifted trucks) say Blocks on the front are unsafe PERIOD. The square tubing, is not a solid block, so it seems much less stable and safe to me.
The problem with blocks on the front. It is proved that they can "Roll" out from under the truck, under heavy braking, turns ect... the front axle is subjected to much different and harder torque and stresses than the rear is. Thus making a block of any kind, unsafe on the front.

1 picture of the truck (Blue and Silver Super Duty). 2 pictures are close up of the blocks, the other are a little farther back to get the whole picture. You can see the front dif in the 2 pics on the driver side, so the other 2 are the passenger side.
What are my option for making this safe? I like the looks of the truck how it sits, but want it to be safe.
Thanks

That is one of the most dangerous and awful things to do to a suspension. Unbelievable the previous owner should be embarrassed among other things. Fix it...put the truck back to factory until you get a quality supsension lift, if you so feel the need.

Check with ICON vehicle dynamincs. I believe deaver makes them a 14 inch long "mini" leaf pack for leveling your truck. It is basically a lift block for the front still, but at least it has the pin and recess to work with the factory axle and leafs, and it's length helps the u bolts keep it in place better. I believe it is like 250 bucks.

Those are good indystroker. My aunt (yes my aunt has a lifted powerstroke lol) has had a mini spring pack leveling kit like that on her truck for a few years with no ill effects, and there easier to install than an add-a-leaf leveling kit.

In your original post you said "shackle" and what I know as shackle is the double bar pivoting set at rear of leaf spring.I thought he used the box tube as a pivoting point under the frame for the top bolt of the unit at rear of spring to lift the front of truck.I agree with everyone abouy the use of those block as one BIG no no. Those little spring pack I still consider as Blocks though and don't advise them.I think the only safe way to lift front would be new set of lift springs. IMO
