Why are you wanting to make it so difficult?

x2? Don't overthink this.

After much deliberation, I've decided to go eventually go with the NP271 (manual shift I think) and probably swap my 2x4 zf6 for a 4x4 zf6 unless I can purchase a tail shaft and have a local tranny shop do the work for me.

What is the availability for parts on that output shaft? Probably cheaper to buy the shaft compared to a salvage tranny for $1600.
