8' Aluminum flatbed?

My truck got rearended yesterday by a new Dodge so I have to replace the bed now. This will be the second bed in 5 months! So i'm looking for a 8'x6' aluminum flatbed to replace and also because I would like to lift it a little more and still be able to tow my fifth wheel. I also am going to make it a dually so i need to what i need to make the front and rear in to dual wheel. Thanks
Jim

Re: 8' Aluminum flatbed?

I don't think you have to do anything to the front to make your truck a dually. They sell dually conversion kits. I have seen them at places like Chrome Wheels (Houston, www.chromewheels.com). I am certain others carry them. You need to decide if you want a dually look, or dually function. You can go cheap and not change much in the back except getting fenders and some adapters for the dual wheels, or you can beef up the back to hold the weight a dually is built for.

You might also want to consider some kind of heavy duty bumper for those a$$holes that keep hitting you!

Re: 8' Aluminum flatbed?

Several companies make aluminum flat beds. Here are 4:

http://www.gooseneck.net/262313.html

http://www.aacson.com/diamondeks.htm

http://www.truckcraft.com/productDet...?id=6&cID=

http://www.itbusa.com/productdetail.asp?id=1

A bunch of truck bed manufacturers are included in the following list: Click here

But the best way to have your bed mounted is to look in the yellow pages of the nearest city under "truck bodies". You'll probably find one or two or more that specialize in this stuff - and they probably buy their ready-made flat beds from one of the companies on that list.

<font color="red">WARNING!</font> Most truck beds and bodies are made for chassis cab trucks - not pickups. Since yours is a pickup, be certain you emphasize that point when discussing flat beds with manufacturers or retailers. Most of them also sell special models for pickups, but the ones they make for chassis cabs will not fit on your pickup without a lot of expensive fabrication.

Re: 8' Aluminum flatbed?

Check out my pics below. It's a Gooseneck brand hauler, they do not have pics of this one on their website, but if you order one with all the options, it's what you'll get price came in around $5k installed.

Re: 8' Aluminum flatbed?

I'm not really worried about dually function i just want the look and the ability to haul my fifth wheel with a 6" lift thats why I want a flatbed. How wide would the rearend be with the dually adapters? Would it be at 8' like most duallys?
