Re: 99-07 to 2008 front end?

[ QUOTE ]
One thing I that don't like is that the 08 does not have a hood insulator , my guy at the dealer is checking to see if he can find out for me , but the trucks that they have in stock do not have them , I want to cut down on heat & noise .

[/ QUOTE ]

dude where you been...they havent had that since at least
2004...we could buy the 99-03 hood insulation but now that
theyve changed the truck i dont know if that would even fit.

they also (long ago) deleted the front door courtesy lights, glove
box light and fender liners...i cant remember the last time i
saw a glove box lock either (i think my 96 had one)

Re: 99-07 to 2008 front end?

Ford stopped putting the hood insulators on back in 2005- cost saving I guess. I am getting ready to add one to my 2005 now.

[ QUOTE ]
Just checked my invoice the part are real cheap from Ford ,headlamps $135, ft bumper assy $251, tailgate $201, , taillamps $ 28, I get a real good deal from Ford due to the amout I buy every month , but the list price is on the hood is 158, the hood for a 2003 list for 421. the list prices are too low for me. ?

[/ QUOTE ]

Ford must have one hell of a markup then because I priced out an 08 tailgate and I can tell you that when all the components were added it totalled $1700....that's just for the tailgate, step, grabhandle, and other misc items that were needed.

Thats awesome if you are getting it at the prices you are listing

Re: 99-07 to 2008 front end?

Where the fender bolt up in the rear by the door is not the same but I am going to cut my old fender bracket off and weld on to new fenders all the top bolts are the same , I dont think the frame is going to be a problem with the new brackets ,or I will weld a plate to my frame and offset the height , there's a hole on the apron that I am going to use for the hood support struts , the hood release cable mounts to the frame with a seperate cable & lever, if I don't get radiator support by end of week I am going to play with my radiator support and see if I can make it work . I want to get this done so that I can work on my big brake calipers and new wheels

Re: 99-07 to 2008 front end?

Here I come to rain on the parade. If I were forced into buying an '08, I'd be looking for a back to '06 conversion. I have five more years to avoid panic about the current body style though. The old 87 body style kind of spooked me too, and I got used to it. I just hope that they have a leather (King Ranch??) with carpet delete option by then.

Later
Bill

Re: 99-07 to 2008 front end?

I think he ment that if he HAD to buy an '08, he'd be looking to change out the new nose for a 2005-2007 nose.

Sounds good MrTerry1......can't wait to see it
