Cell Phone through the Stereo???

I can't hear my cell phone ringing when I've got the music turned up . . . anybody know how I might dock my cell phone so it will turn off the music when I've got a call coming in, and be handsfree, and maybe even let me listen through the car speakers?

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

I've heard that Bluetooth is wireless but don't have any personal experience with it . . . what kind of a setup are you thinking of? BTW, don't know if it matters, but my stereo is a Shaker 500 . . .

That is a silence button. The symbol is just there and serves no phone purpose other than silencing the radio if you get a CALL.

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

2006 radios will work with the ford and motorola bluetooh systems. the ford one is esier to install. the raido will turn off and the phone call will ring in the stero speakers. you will be able to answer the call and hear the call without ever taking your phone out of your pocket. you can make calls hands free with voice recognition. as long as your phone has the feature. i have used both systems.

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

Not sure about 06 but I have This for my 02. I have a Nokia hand free cell phone kit in my truck and this wiring harness replaces the harness that comes with it and hooks in series with the wiring on my stereo. When a call comes in the radio displays "CALL" and the stereo program (AM, FM, Tape, CD) is muted and I can hear my phone call over the stereo speakers.

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

I have a bluetooth kit I bought by a company called Parrot. It has an lcd display for caller id. It attaches to the mute wire and phone input on the X's radio harness so the sound comes through the stereo. A mic is installed in front of the overhead console. It even does voice dialing. The phone only need be in the X and on. It can be in a pocket or purse etc.

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

I'm considering the Parrot for my 01. Do you have any photos of your install? I'm curious where you mounted the display.
Thanks,
D

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

Garmin Nuvi 660 will do all that the parrot does plus GPS and MP3 and realtime traffic alerts. I see my whole phonebook on the display and can search by spelling and shows history of missed, received and dialed calls. Caller ID comes up in big jumbo text with two touchscreen buttons to awnser or ignore the incoming call or call waiting. Also allows voice dialing and direct connect to the 6 mil POIs in the database.

I have mine mounted at the top left of the windsheild so it is out of sight of the theives and sunlight yet very convienent to operate. The amazing thing is the antenna can NOT see the sky and is behind ceramic tint strip yet still gets 10 foot accuracy 100% of the time.

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

motorolla also makes a system. I have on for my motorola, has a speaker, microphone and docking bay that also charges the phone. Also mutes the radio. Whole system was under 200 bucks

Re: Cell Phone through the Stereo???

i have the motorolla 1000 kit , all you need is the wiring harness cable from ford to do the install ( forgot part number .)

it mutes the radio and voice comes through spaekers .

easy to install , did it myself .

do not get the ford one , it is overpriced and uses older bluetooth software .

the motorolla kit is nice for voice activation , or the porrot kits are nice also because they have a display screen .
