Diesel Filler neck and cap for auxillary tank

I'm building an auxillary tank that will mount under my truck. I would prefer to find a filler neck that takes an OEM style threaded cap. Any ideas where to locate such a part? a stock 06 filler neck is over $100 from the dealer. I may try the local JY but I'm afraid it will be all gas stuff there.

Thanks

Re: Diesel Filler neck and cap for auxillary tank

I would guess any Super Duty filler neck would work. (Off Powerstrokes anyway) And you need the rubber connecting hose, and weld a neck onto the tank it will fit.
(How are you fabricating an aux tank for UNDER the truck?
Where are you going to put it under there?

Re: Diesel Filler neck and cap for auxillary tank

I just picked up a filler neck off of a 99PSD from a junk yard for $65 for the neck, cap and hoses to the tank. Stealer wanted $171. Call around, it is worth it.

Re: Diesel Filler neck and cap for auxillary tank

Its going between the transfer case and main tank. My truck is a CC short bed 4x4. If it was not for the 4wd I could run a much larger tank. This tank will be about 18gal, it will hang about 1" lower than the stock tank, but still higher than the cat.

I figured 18 gal would give me plenty of extra range, but after towing my dyno trailer with a car on it I was getting 10.5-10.9mpg (about 11,500 lbs for dyno trailer with car). With just the dyno trailer (8,000lbs) I get around 13mpg.
