Diesel Site bypass oil filter

Thinking of purchasing the Diesel Site system for the new engine. Anyone have experience with it? Would like to hear comments.

Re: Diesel Site bypass oil filter

I'm thinking of getting one of their Coolant bypass filters, haven't heard from anyone using their oil bypass filter yet. I just installed the FS-2500 oil bypass system and it is real nice. Click on the link and watch the 20 minute demo video, I was impressed enough to buy it. There are a few others out there, just research them and get what works for you.

Just keep in mind w the FS2500 that the video is from the 90s. The Amsoil filters on the dieselsite kit are the new version, not the ones in that test.

I am getting the single bypass kit from dieselsite. Haven't used it so I can't comment on it. Call Bob and talk to him, he'll explain it to you.

I use the coolant filter and the single oil by=pass filter both from Bob Riley......The Donaldson filters are the way to go imho.....
I've had them on for years and my oil samples ad still excellent as with any other quality by-pass set up. This is one of those "your satisfaction may vary' things.......

The coolant filter is easy to replace. Any questions call Bob or his wife they are both very super and pro kindah folks!

PS: this is one of those Chebby Vs. Ford thingies choose your comfort factor...as long as a coolant and by-pass are used your longevity is greatly enhanced and you cannot go wrong.........I get lot of compliments from maint. guys that know my truck is well maintained........

Chinook - How was the install on the single bypass kit? Does the kit come with everything you need for the PSD? Did you use the Amsoil one dieselsite sells, or did you get a dieselsite one? (I don't see anything but the Amsoil version for single bypass).

Also, how much are the Donaldson replacements for the full flow and bypass?

Thanks

I'm using OilGuard's system on my rig. Oil is still golden after several months, I'm about due for an analysis. The only thing I am curious about is viscosity levels. Bypass filtration only keeps the oil clean..which is very beneficial to decreased engine wear...but you still have to keep an eye out on viscosity because the 6.0 shears it like no other.

Let me answer in order here..lol... I used the Amsoil single by-pass filter bought it from Bob. It has all the material needed but for the two fittings to go into the block. I went to Granger in Sugarland and got a straight and a 45* fitting. You'll see them in my pics when you follow the sig.

The one thing I did different is replace the 1/8" mount bracket and made up a 1/4" bracket. Follow my sig and you'll see the difference.

The Donaldson filters are now the standard for Amsoil so most any OEM type air/oil filter order from Bob or directly from Amsoil is a Donaldson filter.

The price are not much different then buying from Amsoil before because Bob sells them at preferred customer rates anyway, so I dropped my membership....lol....

To recap the by-pass question you can follow the pics in my sig and see how the filter mounts well out of the way. If I had to do it over again I would recommend making the filter mounting portion another 2 inches longer so I would not have to use spacers for clearance. That being said it makes more sense once you see the pics.....

One thing tho, were the spacers for the Dahl install or for the single bypass?

That was the original Dahl install until I saw FMVRT's mount using the seat bolts. So i remounted it there.......

DOH wait yeah I had to use spacers on the single by-pass filter that's why I would redo it over and extend the mount bar another 2" or so........hope this helps...

Was the new mounting bar the same size as the original except for the thickness? Just wondering what you suggest the length to be so I don't have to use spacers.

Yes the new mounting bar was the same when the kit comes in do a dry fit when you slid under your truck and add about another 2 to 3". What I did was get a piece of cardboard and and a pencil and copied the bolt pattern of the existing holes on the frame; that was the only deviation from the original bracket that came w/ the kit well plus adding another 2-3" helps out too...

Keep in mind that as a nuclear maint. hand I get a bit anal so the1/8" bracket may be just fine for you but for me 1/4" plate steel was mo-bettah..

Smile puradyn filters

I installed a puradyn filter on my 7.3. Easy install, only 2 hoses and one electrical line. The filter has an additive package that keeps the viscosity tbn tan all at new specs. I ran 30,000 miles on my first filter and the OA came back just about like new oil. On my second filter now. IMHO puradyn is the better of the oil bypass filters.
