Question double DIN in 04?

I was told that the 04 F250 factory radio was not a Double DIN, and that the Kenwood 8120 would not fit. I have checked on line and everything I have found tells me that a single DIN is 2" and a double is 4". Measuring the radio it measures 4"... What am I missing or are they giving mis-information?

Should be double din. Mine is an 06 and I believe all 99 and up are that size.

05 and up were true double dins. On an 04 you can fit a double din radio but you have to do some trimming. Once you take the radio out you will notice that the radio face is actually bigger than the radio itself. That is what makes it look like a double on the outside. Do a search, I know it is on here somewhere. I think what you have to do is trim the opening a little and rig up a way to secure it.
