Picking up my 08 F350 SD 4X4 and a car towed 2 place bike trailer (2" ball) on the same day (different places) Anyone have any idea on what size drop hitch to get? (third stop)

Too many variables in trailers. So here's the drill:

Go to the trailer dealer and adjust the jack on the hitch until the floor of the trailer is level. Then measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the hitch.

Go to any Ford dealer and find an F-3550 in stock. I've never seen one, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif so if you can't find one, then settle for an F-350 with the same cab and drivetrain options you have, then measure the distance from the top of the receiver to the gound. Since the rear of the pickup will go down because of hitch weight, subtract an inch or so from that difference to get the approximate drop needed for the ball mount/drawbar.

If they don't have an '08 in stock, then just measure an '07. There will be very little, if any, difference in an '08 and an '07 with the same options.

After you get it all hooked up and on the road with the wet and loaded trailer, check the level of the floor of the trailer. If it's not level front to rear, you'll know you need a different drop. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif
