ENOUGH!!! Cabin-Air Filter De-Bunked!!!!

Okay, I've had enough of this cabin air filter topic. What better way then a few HIGH quality digital photos. From what I could see the item you see in the photo is nothing more than a debris and water screen. I could not get any photos down into the screen to show there is nothing inbetween the upper plastic and the heater core.

Now I will say this, you could hack the upper cowl area, fabricate a panel for access and fabricate a filter element to cover this area.

Re: ENOUGH!!! Cabin-Air Filter De-Bunked!!!!

Thanks and nice job on the pics I could see these ones clearly. I will tell you there is no filter lower in the system, I have had plenty of these heater boxes out for various reasons and only found what the pics reveal.

Re: ENOUGH!!! Cabin-Air Filter De-Bunked!!!!

I am not getting involved in this other than for the mere fact that the constant battles that are created by the constant questioning and constant oposition to any topic on the boards are begining to make reading a thread miserable.

On to the topic at hand. I am satisfied to know that there is no cabin filters on these trucks. I know this for a fact and from the Master Tech at the Ford Garage I used to work for. Was you truck new off of the dealer lot when you purchased it? If it was then you do not have a filter. If you purchased the truck used it is possible that there is some sort of filter in the truck that a previous owner fabricated. People do all sorts of crazy modifications to these trucks and then sell them or move them on to someone else. Just a thought. Chris

Re: ENOUGH!!! Cabin-Air Filter De-Bunked!!!!

Back in late 99 I ordered a 2000 Cab and chassy and one of the things I ordered it with is a cabin air filter. sent the truck to Indiana and had a bed put on, and then had It shipped to a dealer. and Then I picked it up. the filter he posted does not look like the one I have His looks more like a grate. mine is shaped like his pic but it has a screen cover and a filter inside. The access to the ilter is from the drivers side. one screw and up it lifts. So I think the answer is do they make a cab air filter for a super duty. Yes. can you get them from ford. no. why because they cost to much. Just like the inside red light on the door. 2000 has a light 2004 dont. has a place for it but dont have it anymore.

Moderator hat on:

I worked 20 minutes on this thread deleting off-topic and against-the-rules posts.

Keep it on topic, and NEVER ridicule another member.

Moderator hat off:

There is no doubt that the í99-up SuperDuty trucks did NOT have a factory-installed cabin air filter. Period.

HeavyAssultís photos show a stock cowl area without a cabin air filter. But that doesnít mean none of the í99-up SuperDuty trucks have an aftermarket cabin air filter.

Stock trucks didnít come with a pyrometer either. But that doesnít mean my truck doesnít have one.

Lots of folks need a cabin air filter because of allergies or other problems. So there is demand for one, and where there is demand, someone will sell something to meet that demand.

Cab Fresh sells an aftermarket cabin air filter for our trucks. http://www.nemr.net/~cabfresh/cabfresh.htm
Thatís probably the one Mr. Peterson has in his F-450. Wix also sells one. One of our sponsors - www.fleetfilter.com - sells it.
Cabin Air Filter 24876 V8 7.3L Diesel PICKUP F-SERIES SUPER DUTY ALL Cabin

It's sorta hard to find in the WIX catalog, but if you click here you'll see it.

So far, over the last 6 years Iíve been here at TheDieselStop, no one has raved about the Cab Fresh version. Poor fit. And Iíve heard zero comment about the Wix version. So theyíre not very popular. But if Mr. Peterson likes his, then more power to him.

Smokey as I have told you I do not wish to fight. Someone ask for pictures I took them someone ask for ford part number. I called and ask my ford parts man for part number F65z19N619 And he said dont have must order then he called back and said it was on back order. I ask him what it said in his computer. and he said it is in late 99 and 2000. 2001 X and super duty trucks. special order only. I ask him what it was and He stated "Fresh air cabin filter" So I must be dreaming. but dont think I am. Have a nice day.

Re: ENOUGH!!! Cabin-Air Filter De-Bunked!!!!

Just to add another log on the fire, Fram lists this "Compartment Air Filter; Can only be installed if Ford Kit # F65Z-18D477AA has been installed" Of course, I can't find that number at any parts site.

HHmmmmm

Your parts guy can't read.

I went to town and had my dealer's parts gal look it up. She let me read over her sholder.

That part number is a cabin air filter all right, and it will fit a '99 and some other years. F-150. Only F-150. Not SuperDuty. Not your F-450.

Re: ENOUGH!!! Cabin-Air Filter De-Bunked!!!!

I tell you what, why don't you get a better picture of the filter removed from your truck? Try getting a higher resolution picture of the filter installed while you are at it. From what I can see the photo you took and my photo are the same thing. Since you ordered your truck with this as an OPTION then show us the window sticker that lists the (so-called) cabin air filter.

Get some better photos to prove you are right.

Did you just call Smokey a Liar? Wow, this is entertaining.

Out of curiosity, is this Father or Daughter posting? Can you register your own account so that the two personalities don't get confused?

Thank you, now lets all return to our regularly scheduled programing.

L.J.

P.S. I agree with the above post, higher resolution pictures would help.

A friendly word of advice that I doubt you'll take is not be so argumentitive or looking for faults in a post since you might find your posts being simply ignored by those that have been around here a while and means you are basically wasting your time if you think anyone is listening to what you post ... It might be a good time to "look in the mirror" so to speak and see where you are at.

We are here to "help" and not "hinder" other owners in enjoying their Ford vehicles.

Finally, if I've read your posts in other threads you and your college age daughter do need to get separate accounts so folks know who they might be talking to.
