F 250 Tire Size

Hi,

I am new to this board. I happened upon it looking for info on my new F 250. I have a 2006 F250, Turbo Diesel, Lariat, FX4. My first 3/4 ton pickup, always had 1/2 ton.

I know this question doesn't pertain to this forum but I don't know where else to ask and their seems to be some experienced folks here.

I have Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires that came on the truck. The tire size is LT275/65R20. Now, I love my michelin LTX tires. Don't want anything but michelin tires but the only sizes close that I have found on the michelin website is 275/60R20 and 275/55R20. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the Wrangler tire size and the Michelin tire sizes. Will either of the michelin sizes work on my truck?

Re: F 250 Tire Size

LT275/65R20 = LT - Light Truck, 275 Tread width in millimeters, 65 - sidewall height is 65% of tread width, 20 - rim diameter.

Hope I got that all right.

Re: F 250 Tire Size

Boria,

Welcome to TDS ! Sounds like a nice truck you just bought.

Look here for a tire size calculator:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

This site lets you put in two different sizes and compares them for you.

Hope this helps,
Roger

Re: F 250 Tire Size

Basically both those tire sizes would be shorter than your factory tires. If the tallest they come in is 60 series, you would have to go with a wider tire to get the height back.
